I don't like the bit about "the amount of detail" ! Does this mean even more stupid rule changes? No wonder fans are walking away.

So frustrating - can't copy and paste from that site ! I like the sound of the new "tactical gate" rule ! "New play-off sytem..... more details to follow soon" for the Elite league. Sounds ominous...... Think I need to keep re-reading the new scoring system... can't seem to get my head a round it right now !!

I know - I was only just getting my head round the current rules - lol !! But that tactical gate rule only applies to the KO meetings.....

.... but, any success of this rule will be masked by the fact that they intend to retain the poxy TR rule in KO matches as well, therefore making it completely Mickey Fucking Mouse.....

Really just tinkering but for once tinkering for the better:
* points margins are much better than the black and white away win, although scrapping the tactical ride would have enabled a wider margin to be rewarded. Dont agree with the bonus for a 'big' win but probably necessary to get the vote through * doubling up is thankfully back (shouldnt have gone) * kept with the idea of getting the EL and PL close together - still no where near where they need to make the end of year promotion / relegation play off a realistic match but I am pleased with the general direction
Still no long term plans re assets / development etc (National league is a separate issue with no incentive for the EL clubs to get involved) nor for realistic cost control (otherwise the NL bikes would standardised and probably club owned)
Also was I the only one to think the press release was just a little over the top, whilst I appreciate press releases tend by their nature to focus on the positive this one really took the biscuit

How the fuck do the Management and printers privide a programme with a preprinted scorecard if the team can be jiggled and changed just prior to the meeting!! The chairman of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association, Peter Toogood, has a message for the fans of British Speedway. He said: “I am delighted to have the privilege of being at the helm of British Speedway in its 80th anniversary season, and I plan to make it a special occasion for every fan. “One of the plans we have, for example, is to send our special 80th Anniversary stand to a track each week throughout the season. This will be manned by some of the greatest riders from over the eras and will give fans of young and old the chance to re-live some nostalgia. “It actually feels like years of hard work and lessons for everybody have finally paid off, and we now have a sport which will make big strides in a year where most other sports will struggle. I can say this with confidence because Speedway is a good value entertainment package for the whole family. In times where the economy is struggling, people look to be entertained for a reasonable price and that is where we score so highly. Our sport is great value with most clubs even offering free entry for children. “We are able to do things like this because we started to take control of our costs last year where most other professional sports went the other way and actually allowed them to spiral out of control. I do hope that even if the big Grand Prix stars choose not to ride here in the UK then the fans will appreciate the reason why, and in actual fact I do believe this could be a good thing as it we will create a new breed of superstars as a consequence. What a flapperjack!!

What a disappointing conference.
This year was a golden opportunity to do something radical to save the sport in this country. Instead we just get more tinkering of rules.
I like the new points scoring system, though. Can't see how anyone can find it difficult - seems perfectly simple to me. Not sure about the extra point for a big home win, but otherwise it's OK.

Hmm Think some of the women will get confused with the scoring system! The main positive for me is the opportunity to fill a team place with 2 shared P/L riders averaging less that 8 points... This has to be good for speedway - pity it hasn't been limited just to the Brits or U 23's... Should give the likes of Tommy Allen or Chris Neath a chance to earn a few extra pennies....

I really cannot understand all the moaning about the new scoring system. Anyone with a basic understanding of maths should have no problems with it and if it rewards the fighting efforts of teams like Edinburgh and Lynn away from home the fans will be the winners. As for TWO dingly dangly do dah whatsits ....words fucking fail me.

Only just had a chance to read this through, and I'm quite happy with this one. Glad to see doubling up back, and I like the fact that teams can be built more freely - it gives the managers something to do, so we should see more tactical play this coming season. Glad the 15 metre rule has gone, not fussed by the introduction of the new one (if a team is 12 points behind having already used their first tactical ride it's not going to make much of a difference!) I know the IOW fans may be disappointed with dropping down a league, but if it's viable, and it keeps speedway going on the island, that has to be the main concern. Also glad to see the old CL expanding into what will now be the NL, even if it is going to play havoc with the format on the forum here. Also liking the scoring system, but wasn't something similar suggested by Subedei a while ago? And you weren't the only one, Tony.
