Well it's getting near to the promoters annual piss take/up. One wonders what little gems will be forthcoming this year, and if as Chris Louis says hopefully they will keep to the 3 year plan, instigated last year, or will they as normal be over turned by the "old guard".
Hopefully, Chris/JL, Stuart/Jon, Bratters, Colin Pratt BV promotion(can't for the life of me remember their names) will all stick together for the good of the future of speedway.

Chris Morton, David Gordon and Gordon Pairman are the promotion team at Belle Vue. It's difficult to know what will come out of the BSPA AGM, what with rumours of fixed race days, a reduced Elite League schedule and regionalisation of the Premier League. I think it highly unlikely that the status quo will be viable and that could mean the three year strategy being binned. Has it really worked? Okay, the Witches hit lucky with Piotr Swiderski and had a great season, so they're generally happy, but what about the hapless Wolves? They were probably poorer than Belle Vue in 2007. Belle Vue themselves only made modest progress and most of that on the back of Jason Crump. I really don't think it worked as it was intended.

Interestingly, the five promotions you've singled out there Badger, actually make up the majority of the Elite League......so keep your fingers crossed.

Personally I do think it's worked.........you'll always get somebody at the top and somebody at the bottom, and this season's basement side, Wolverhampton, actually looked fairly good on paper prior to the season starting. Have a look through the EL results and I think you'll find a few surprises in there, like Peterborough's win at Poole as an example.......I honestly think it's been relatively hard to predict results this year.

Personally I think Pratt is part of the old school, so we have four good guys and four baddies.........with Pratty/Trump somewhere in between........should be an interesting conference.

According to an article on Berwick's website dated today:
“I know it’s only been five days since I announced this coming weekend is my final one as promoter of Berwick Speedway, but if people think there’s a mountain of time then I have to repeat there’s not, and all tolled there’s 21 days before the AGM for the BSPA begins and we need it sorted by then.

Sorry if its listed somewhere but do we actually have any details on this famed three year plan other than:
2008 - slash points limit hard (7.5%) 2009 - slash points limit not so hard (5%) 2010 - reduce points limit by a bit (2.5%)
and the notion of promotion / relegation between the EL/PL but under such a system as to make it highly unlikely to ever happen unless the PL gets so big as to go PL1 (EL points limit of 30+ rather than the 20.75 that teams we made up to this year) and PL2 (PL points limit of say 30ish)
If we are to stick to said plan, why was it announced earlier in the year the CL had joined the three wise men in the think tank? - what are they thinking about?

I'd love to see what it's like in that room.
They reckon they take hours discussing, debating and arguing. I bet it's nothing like that.

What a moron, and to quote:
"decisions will be taken by promoters at the forthcoming AGM to secure the league's immediate and long term future"
OK there was also the bit about the economic climate, recession, blah, blah, blah. Is it just me or is it not one of the AGM's primary functions EVERY year to secure the SPORTS immediate and long term future?
Its no wonder the sport is in the state it is with people like this in charge - however well meaning (and I have no real axe to grind with any of the powers that be individually) for the sport to move forward with any sort of vision we need outsiders with practical experience in sports administration in to run the sport. Note I have no problem with promoters running their individual clubs how they see fit but the SPORT in this country needs to be seen to be bigger than the sum of its clubs and thus needs to have a clear independent voice

Here's where the BSPA makes itself look rather silly. Last year it had a plan; a three year plan, to be precise. And now it appears that this plan has had a lifespan of one year. The silliness is, of course, to even hope to believe that speedway can sustain a plan that evolves over three years. Speedway lives a hand to mouth existence, with no room for such luxuries as multi-year plans.
