Barker back at Stoke for 2008.
Had heard he'd been playing games with Reading - glad in some respects that Wellie won't/hasn't been held to ransom with riders.
After last season we want riders who are committed to the club and not just their bank accounts.

Reading are building quite a useful looking side for the PL campaign and dont need anyone trying to hold them to ransom . Especially some pink haired tosser who hasn't done nothing in speedway yet .

You certainly get the impression that young Barker has an inflated sense of his own importance.

You certainly get the impression that young Barker has an inflated sense of his own importance. That's possibly down to Waggy's financial incentive to sign for the Silver Machine at the age of sixteen.

Reading's final 2 signings to be announced on Christmas Eve.
Please just don't let Paul Clews be one of them.

Why are you so against Paul Clews Wacks?
He guested for us a couple of times last season, scored double figures each time and showed he could pass as well as gate.

Guesting for your club a couple of times a season is one thing ML, having him in your line up for a whole year is another! Clewsy was ok when he first joined Reading but hasn't progressed really in the past 10 years, in fact if anything he's taken a step backwards. PLUS - I can't abide riders who celebrate scoring a point or two - fine celebrate a heat win, but not coming second when you've just beaten an opposition reserve. In any case it's been said our last 2 signings won't be a disapointment so I reckon Wellie has coaxed Jan Andersson out of retirement and managed to get Shaun McConnell in at reserve on a 3 point ave.

I'm very surprised Reading haven't included Patrick Hougaard in their team for '08.
Anyone heard anything about him riding in the UK next year?

Hougaard wants to finish his education before riding in the UK Kev which should be around June time, so we could see him in Racers colours next year at some point if things don't work out as planned.

Thanks for that Wacks - he's a good rider to have waiting in the wings, and hopefully we'll see him back over here when his education is finished.

Were also announced on Reading website yesterday/today. Think they got wind that the next edition of the Star was out so early.

It's good to hear that the go ahead has been given for the proposed casino at Reading, which hopefully will give the venue a sound financial base.
When is the proposed first meeting on the new track?
