Yes Genghis i am. As i say he had time to link up with his Polish mechanic so im sure while he was sat in the 5 hours of traffic between the two berlin airports he could of let JDC know he wouldnt be coming. Or maybe when he didnt get on the first flight save JDC flight money petrol money and time. Along with his mechanic Cammy.

Snyper - you Monarchs lot are quick to turn on THJ when he doesn't turn up and you can't use a facility. You seemed perfectly happy when you could use R/R for his various European excursions. Lay off the poor lad. He's going through what is, no doubt, a very difficult time. He obviously needs a little time away. As I said before, show a little heart.

No Genghis i was happy for THJ to be away when he was actually accounted for. But when a rider doesnt show leaves the team up shit creek. Claims the batteries on all 3 of his phones were dead and there was 5hours of traffic to do a 30 min journey. That is when i get fucked off.

Just wait a cotton picking minute! That's out of order and you know it. Firstly don't tar us all with the same brush. Secondly, yes Monarchs fans are unhappy but it has nothing to do with not getting the R/R facility on Wednesday. We know the rules and we weren't entitled to anything other than a junior. Thirdly, Snyper does have a point as most fans last night spoke about, in that if THJ could contact his mechanic from Poland he could have and should have contacted Edinburgh. And before you come back at me read my previous posting on the subject.

Don't worry i'm sure your castigation of 'Young Genghis' will have him swiftly turning on his heels, and performing yet another about turn.

Seriously though, I still don't blame the lad for missing Wednesday night at all.

No one is blaming him for missing it. Its the way in which he went about it that has pissed people off.

On top of everything that's happened, you get stuck in a traffic jam and miss the flight. Yes, maybe the right thing to do would have been to make the phone call, but can you really blame him for saying "stuff it" and not bothering. It's up to the Edinburgh management to make the right call regarding THJ, who is still only a 20-year-old lad. Which is to find a replacement for THJ, and then let down THJ very gently.

Genghis he missed his first flight at 9.40am John Campbell then spoke to him and booked a flight from the other Berlin airport for 2.40. John drove all the way to Heathrow to meet Thomas and spent an hour searching the whole of terminal 5 for THJ and after asking the info desk he was told Thomas hadnt boarded his flight in Berlin. At this point all 3 of Thomas' phones were off. So John finally got hold of Thomas' Polish mechanic who told him that THJs batteries had died x3 and that THJ had been stuck in 5hours of traffic on the 30min trip between both airports.
Im sorry but he contacted his mechanic and not the club he was meant to be racing for. JDC wasted money booking him on another flight and driving to Heathrow when Thomas hadnt even got on the flight.
I hope now you can see why Edinburgh fans are pissed off and feel let down. Its not that he missed the meeting its the way in which he did so.

I hope now you can see why Edinburgh fans are pissed off and feel let down. Its not that he missed the meeting its the way in which he did so. Missed this thread earlier.... As an Edinburgh fan, I'd like to say that I am definitely not "pissed off" with him, but his non arrival on Wednesday was a little disappointing. I don't want to be making excuses for him, but I think that what we all have to remember is that we are talking about a very young lad who has just recently lost his Father in a very sad way.... I'm not entirely convinced by the excuses provided for Wednesday, but I am also not surprised that we have received an explanation like this....I guess it's up to THJ and JDC to work out where things stand going forward. I will certainly hold no grudge towards THJ if he wants to call time on his stint with the Monarchs. I was delighted by his result on Saturday, and I think that I will probably support him in any future match that he appears in whether he ever pulls on the blue and gold jacket again or not.

Pissed off, dissapointed, annoyed. All amounts to us feeling let down by the whole situation. I was also pleased to see him make it to the GP qualifier semis and hold no grudge against him.

Taken from Edinburgh SpeedwayTHOMAS TAKES TIME OUT FROM UK After discussions with our Swedish rider Thomas H Jonasson, the Scotwaste Monarchs have to announce that Thomas will be withdrawing from UK racing for the immediate future. It is recognised that Thomas has had perhaps the most extensive programme of racing of any current competitor, racing in Sweden, Poland and the UK as well as competing simultaneously in the World Under-21 championship, the Swedish Under-21 Championship, the Grand Prix Qualifiers and the World Under-21 team Championship. In addition to this, as everyone knows, he has had to bear the tragic recent loss of his father who played such a key role in Thomas’s career. The pressure all this has brought to bear on a young man can only be imagined by most of us. Naturally the club were disappointed by his non-arrival at Somerset last week due to missing flights, but we have accepted his explanations. Thomas told us on Monday “I will tell you that I can’t handle 3 countries at the moment, it’s just too much and I have to work hard just racing in 2 countries now. “I know that a lot of people will be angry but I am ready to take that and I am also ready to pay back sponsorship for anyone who wants that. I am sorry about this but I can’t handle all this now.” Thomas has requested a break but neither club nor rider has closed the door to him riding in the team in the future. He said “If you want me back in the team after that I really want that, if not then I will stop racing in UK and hope that you will do well!”
