Aye it must make the Monarchs faithful's wee hearts swell with pride having one of their boys in such demand Notice Genghis is very quiet on this topic all of a sudden , the good slapping must have him running scared ;D I'm not saying a word. If that is a result of ML's slapping, she must be a serious contender for Mutts Nuts!!

And Edinburgh's PR guru Mike Hunter declares that the situation is "serious" after Jonasson's latest no-show for the Monarchs: edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/Speedway-Monarchs-lose-as-rider.5333642.jpPersonally, I fear for the young fellow's career. He's had more than his fair share of on-track knocks over the years and when added to the tragic loss of his father (who was the driving force behind his career) and learning that a rider suffered paralysis in a crash at a meeting he was involved in could be too much for him.

Okay, the latest with regard to Jonasson is that he's not a very popular fellow with the Edinburgh promotion, who had organised a flight for him from Berlin to the East Midlands airport on Wednesday, which he missed. Edinburgh then booked him on a later flight from Berlin to Heathrow which he also missed. Edinburgh are, apparently, going to hold urgent talks with the Swede and agree a schedule and flights which he can take or leave. Obviously, if he leaves it, he'll no longer be a Monarch. And if he takes it and another problem arises, he also won't be a Monarch.

According to his website, he'll be fined for missing the meeting. He's had a tough time lately, but will run in the GP qualifiers tomorrow.

Not unexpected that he would take a fine from the club. I suspect that the fine in question will be far lower than the one he took from Gorzow last season, though!
I'm in two minds about the current situation. I have massive sympathy for THJ for what has gone on recently, and I really amn't surprised that he made his excuses and took the easy option between Germany and Italy.....but I can see how that is unacceptable for the Monarchs.
I'd love to see him stay with us if we can work something out, as he IS a quality little racer, but I wouldn't be shocked if he just said that enough was enough and headed off into the sunset....

I have to agree about that would love THJ to stay and get organised properly, whether that can happpen suppose we will find out sooner rather than later. JDC will take no crap, riders in the past have found that out Vesa for example. He has been though a lot but he either has to take time to get his head sorted and having a complete break or trying to ride through it. Edinburgh fining him was correct as I suspect he thought he would just get a slapped wrist. It has also crossed my mind he wanted Edinburgh to sack him and not him to walk out of the club. If he does walk/sacked not sure where Edinburgh would go from here

I don't think Edinburgh should "sack" the poor lad, I think "releasing him from his contract" would be a more diplomatic way of going about things.
After all, he may wish to return in the future. He hasn't really done anything wrong - anyone is entitled to a little time off to get they head sorted out after recent events.
The key is to situation is how the Edinburgh promotion handle it. Arguably they've already not been forward enough in their behaviour.
It's obvious that the death of Michael Jonasson would have a huge effect on his son and it's up to them to take the necessary action (i.e. find a replacement) rather than wait around, have THJ not show a few times and then try to shift the blame onto the rider.
But really this should have done before Wednesday, before waiting for that to happen. John Campbell should fine himself for what happened on Wednesday rather than THJ.

Edinburgh have announced that, as expected, their rising Swedish star will miss their home fixture against Sheffield this Friday in order to ride for his Polish club Gorzow. This should mean that Jonasson will be subject to a ONE YEAR ban by the SCB. I hope so. About bloody time. And about time a similar ruling was introduced for Elite League riders. Jonasson and his ilk can piss off. EDIT: And, Sub, can you change "Xenophobe" to "Proud To Be British" please? Once again Genghis does a complete around turn.

Hatcham, that's because I will change my opinion as events progress -I'm not a stuck in the mud like yourself. A great deal has happened to young Thomas H Jonasson in the last few weeks and the lad deserves a break.

I think that Edinburgh arrange for him to stay in Germany after the U21 WTC and fly out minimising his travelling.
I think the situation about how he was reacting was difficult to judge he scored very well in the matches prior to Wednesday, if THJ doesn't explain how he is feeling I am sure that Edinburgh are not mind readers.
I like THJ and would love for something to be sorted out but know from passed riders if JDC get annoyed then it is very difficult to get him to turn around to the effect the rider will not ride for Edinburgh again.
I think if he needs time then he really has to drop all matches not just GB, I am sure if any of us had different employers and you didn't go to work for one but for another would get a bit messy, speedway is no different.

As i have said i understand about his dad and if he needed time off he could of atleast called or text John to let him know that he wouldnt make the meeting rather than bullshit lies that were told afterwards. That way Edinburgh could of tried to sort something for the meeting at Somerset that may of got us atleast one point.
Now if he is just not going to turn up without warning then im afraid he has to go. Yes he is very talented and has a huge future but no rider is bigger than the club and THJ should learn that very quickly.

As I posted on the Chatzone
You have to applaud JDC in addressing the crowd last night letting us know the situation regarding THJ and his future. So let's be patient whilst both parties sort things out and hopefully THJ can get back to what he does best for us....piling up the points in the away meetings and gets the track time to finally come to grips with the track at home.
