This should mean that Jonasson will be subject to a ONE YEAR ban by the SCB. I hope so. About bloody time. And about time a similar ruling was introduced for Elite League riders. Jonasson and his ilk can piss off. EDIT: And, Sub, can you change "Xenophobe" to "Proud To Be British" please?

EDIT: And, Sub, can you change "Xenophobe" to "Proud To Be British" please? Nothing to do with me - ask the missus. Anyway, here's the official word from Edinburgh on the Jonasson situation: Thomas Jonasson has to ride for his Polish club on Friday and so Monarchs have to use a Conference League replacement.
There’s no denying that it is proving more difficult than originally anticipated to accommodate Thomas’s fixtures abroad, partly because his Polish club Stal Gorzow seem to be completely unwilling to track Kenneth Hansen who is supposed to be an alternative to Thomas in their squad.
Friday’s match at Armadale is effectively a rearranged fixture (the date was originally reserved for a cup tie), which means that Monarchs do not have first call on Thomas’s services.
Thomas is extremely keen to ride in as many Armadale matches as possible but he will always be directed by Swedish boss Tony Olsson. He said last week “I will ride where I am told to ride, but what I don’t want is to be told to ride in two places at one time!”
Thomas will be riding in the away matches at Birmingham and Reading.Taken from: www.edinburghspeedway.comSo it looks like Edinburgh are going to try and pull a fast one and avoid having Jonasson banned. And with Edinburgh's Alex Harkness on the BSPA management committee, who'd bet against them succeeding?

A little close to the truth, perhaps? Xenophobia: a fear and contempt of foreigners. It is a form of prejudice. Anyway, back to the thread. Oh come on Schumi, I'm not xenophobic. Do I think the riders competing in Britain should prioritise riding in this country? Yes. Do I think we should do more for British youngsters? Yes again. Becuase I care for the sport in this country. We've been on the slippery slope for sometime due to our "addiction to foreign riders" (the quoted words being those of Subedei). British Speedway allows itself to be pushed around. By Ole Olsen. And by the Swedish and Polish leagues. And by a lot of the riders. It's time to stand up and do something. And that's why I want to see the rulebook thrown at Jonasson. Not because he's foreign. But because he's taking the piss.

I did delete my post because it wasn't anything to do with the thread, but here's a quote of yours from yesterday:
There was one less foreign rider and one more Brit on display last night.
Suits me fine.

Suits me fine.Schumi - well, yes, because it was Ben Barker, a young Brit, getting an opportunity at Elite League level. I want to see the young Brits progress. It's embarrassing how crap we are at world level at the moment. But that doesn't make me xenophobic. In fact, my favourite of all-time (Hans Nielsen) is a Dane.

You know I do not agree with what's happened but one thing I do object to is you suggesting that Alex Harkess, who happens to be a friend of mine, has no integrity It may have escaped your notice but there are FIVE people on the management committee.

At the risk of angrying (is that even a word) MidnightLady - THJ should have been booted out of the league a while back.

Whilst I can understand the current furore, I'm wondering what THJ has done to make you suggest he "should have been booted out the league a while back". Rico

Rico, most Edinburgh fans have probably forgotton what he looks like. And some probably think his full name is: "Thomas H Jonasson R/R"

I guess Thomas' early season injuries and Under-21 meetings escaped your blinkered gaze ? Anyway, I was actually asking Marron the question. Rico

All Jonasson's previous absences were fully justified. But this one is thoroughly objectionable and should incur the severest sanctions.

As Subedei says THJ should be subjected to a ban for extracting the urine out of British speedway and Edinburgh Monarchs speedway. How many times has he actually appeared at the West Lothian Arena this year? Berwick suffered similar problems the last 2 years with riders putting foreign commitments ahead of British speedway. Luckily Edinburgh have not suffered from his non-appearances but if the Monarchs could get a decent replacement their team could a very very useful side.

Someone's asked on the Monarchs Chatzone when the Swedish final is, but I'm not a member, so perhaps someone can pass this on - 9th August in Avesta.
