As Braveheart has given her verdict for week 49 and I am bursting to nominate I hope no one minds me starting this. No idea who will choose but that's Subedei's department.
I would like to nominate First Capital Connect and the morons who run Cambridge station.
Went with my daughter in her wheelchair to Cambridge yesterday for an all day OU tutorial thingy. Staff at Lynn station were brilliant, ramp provided, call made to Cambridge for ramp to meet us. All worked fine. First problem was the train was like a cattle truck. Yesterday saw the annual Strawberry Fair at Cambridge and it felt like the whole teenage/early 20 population of West Norfolk chose our train to get there. Luckily everyone was very helpful moving or should I say shuffling to allow us to get to the door at Cambridge. Pulling into Cambridge we were treated to the announcement that they would be adding extra carriages and could we get out quickly!!!!!!!!!!!1 Don't know why they put extra carriages on then cos the train was virtually empty once the youngsters got out. Those bleeding carriages should have been put on at Lynn.!Wasn't as if the rail companies didn't know about the Fair cos the station was crawling with police, PCSOs and rail staff to direct everyone.
So that's the first half of my nomination. First Capital Connect for not planning ahead.
On to the second....
On our return to the station I went to the kiosk that said "Assistance" and asked politely if a ramp could be provided for us to board the train. The "bump " up from platform to train being too much for me to manage alone. "No prob" the nice man said "tell me when your train comes in". Fine so far, except said nice man was then occupied seeing out other trains from other platforms and therefore was busy when our train pulled in. We had 2 minutes to get on the train so I politely asked another uniformed and hi-viz clad rail staff person if he could just get the ramp. It was about 12 foot away. He looked at me and asked what I wanted!!!!!!! I thought it was pretty bloody obvious as Vicki and her wheelchair were right in front of him, However I tried again, gesturing to the wheelchair, ramp and step up to the train. He nodded and went away. When I turned round he had gone past the ramp and was doing something else. Thankfully a very nice menber of the public helped us onto the train with seconds to spare.
So my second nomination is the moron member of staff on the platform and the twats that employ these morons, who 1) can't understand a simple request in the language of this country and 2) say disabled access is provided which it very clearly is not .
As a final note, when we arrived back at Lynn the platform staff were expecting us. So full marks to them. It's not the first time something like this has happened at Cambridge either, bleeding flapperjacks.

RobB (I'm not scared to name names) ;D for being an arrogant prat again and criticising Coventry for arranging a league match on the same night as the Belle Vue 80th Anniversary. www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=41756&st=20&start=20Okay it's a big deal for Aces fans and disappointing that Steady and The Bomber will have to drop out of the meeting but surely league matches have to take priority. How on earth he expects Coventry to pull any more meetings in during June - which is his suggestion - I don't know. G.P. this weekend so no meeting on Friday June 13th as is usual. Monday June 16th at Belle Vue. K.O.C. Friday June 20th Bees v Aces K.O.C. Sunday June 22nd Steve Johnston Testimonial. 1pm. G.P. June 28th so no meeting on Friday 27th. Monday June 30th Bees at Lakeside.

Well, as you started it, Star Lady, you can choose it. And no, I don't mind people starting it and getting the ball rolling.

OK then Sub. Result will be in by midnight next Saturday, so come on folks give me some good nominations. Any of the following stand a chance:- Steve Brandon, Ole Olsen, BSPA, Team We at Swindon, Poole fans, Several BSF members, a certain unofficial northern team web master...no make that 2 of them , people with no manners , people who post in text speak , folk with no sense of humour , companies that close speedway tracks down , myriad government departments, officials who are H & S obsessed, overly politically correct clowns making stupid rules, anyone moaning about the updates service, my tutor for taking ages to return marked assignments, drivers who fail to notice red lights . I'm sure forum members can come up with some others tho ;D

I would like to nominate Lewis Hamilton. His team told him the red light was on, he saw the red light was on, yet he still crashed into Raikkonen. And then said it was just "one of those things". Come on Lewis - have some balls, man.

Come on Lewis - have some balls, man. Saw this while in the Glasgow bar. I love the way Lewis swerved the car so that he avoided the other car and hit Raikkonen instead. Seriously though, the whole safety car / pits procedure is one that needs sorting out. Lewis won't be last to be caught out and make a fool of himself. I now expect Ferrari to put in a protest and McLaren to be disqualified from the constructors championship.

My nomination goes the same way as Gemini....my reason is for making all us Aces fans look like twats.

Second nomination for RobB then. But don't worry there are loads more sensible Aces fans around so you definitely don't all get tarred with the same brush. There are also some damn annoying Coventry fans that make me cringe and certain Poole supporters.

So that's the first half of my nomination. First Capital Connect for not planning ahead. Well your entitled to your opinion, but the planning was pretty spot on, additional services were provided by FCC I should know because I caught one up to Cambridge. Cambridge is owned by National Express so totally seperate to FCC. Strawberry Fair is manic, indeed staff were drafted in from Kings Cross, Royston and Stevenage with London British Transport Police also drafted in. There were sniffer dogs, metal detectors and body scans when leaving the station so I think they got it pretty spot on. The reason coaches are added at Cambridge is because there are far more people coming up from London to Cambridge than from King's Lynn, also when Lynn was electrified in the 90's in true Tory style it was done on the cheap. 8 Car trains cannot run due to the drain on the grid same as electric Loco's cannot run to Royston or 12 car trains when another 4 car is in section. Hence all Lynn trains are 4 car. On to the second.... On our return to the station I went to the kiosk that said "Assistance" and asked politely if a ramp could be provided for us to board the train. The "bump " up from platform to train being too much for me to manage alone. "No prob" the nice man said "tell me when your train comes in". It's not the first time something like this has happened at Cambridge either, bleeding flapperjacks. Again dealing with the number of passengers on this day not everyone gets assitance, Trains were totally rammed, not to mention the ordinary travellers we had to put up with the dregs of society setting of Passcoms, smoking spliffs on the train and fucking up the air conditioning, thinking it ok to spew up all over the seats and floors and then blaming all the staff because the twats turned after the last trains had gone and they had missed them. So instead of ranting at hard pressed staff who dealt with probably 20,000 passengers who were drunk or stoned or both, blame the tossers who organise this new age drug fest which everyone in Cambridge detests with a passion! I'm not excusing the fact you never got assistance but on this day in question all staff are looking to do is shift as many of the people out of Cambridge ASAP before all hell breaks loose as it did in Manchester when Rangers fans were running round the railway lines.

Thank you for the facts regarding FCC, as it clearly was not their fault I'll withdraw that part of my nomination. However, I will not withdraw the second. The moron we asked for help walked away and once we were on the train (which incidentally was not near any platform that Fair goers were or had recently disembarked from), I looked out of the window and he stood there with a vacant look on his face as if he hadn't a care in the world. There was no way he was involved in policing, marshalling, checking or in any way helping out with the Fair influx. Well if he was supposed to be he clearly wasn't doing it. Basically he was a moron, getting wages for doing fuck all. As you know I work dealing with the general public and I have nothing but sympathy for rail staff that had to deal with the dregs of society that these events tempt out from under their stones. Anyone that deals with abuse from the public knows what it's like, including me. However that does not excuse leaving disabled passengers stranded which is what would have happened had a member of the general public not provided me with help. I have to ask what would have happened to any disabled passenger left on the platform at the mercy of the dregs of society that abused you and your colleagues? Sorry Jive, I won't back down on this one. That member of staff was incompetent, lacking in care, lazy, thoughtless and a disgrace to the rest of the rail staff of Cambridge station. The management are just as guilty for letting him get away with it. And if you want to pm me I'll give you a description so you can pass it on if you want, cos he was a disgrace to you and your colleagues.
