This week, the Speedway Star "bonus points" column penned by Peter Oakes and Mike Berry mentions that it appears Sophie Blake is no longer part of the team, but also reports rumours that there will soon be another high-profile change in the Sky team with a long-standing team member on the move.
When last seen, Subedei had every single digit on both hands crossed. Be careful our Figurehead, you may cause permanent injury to your extremities.

Well, if that means that Millard is history and the buffoon Lanning hasn't been offered a contact................well let's just say, I've had worse news.

"And I've got some news for those who love to knock me on some sad website forums (get a life, guys!) - you are likely to get more of me than ever this season!!" Get a life says the man who goes into orgasmic raptures while watching the most tedious of speedway meetings. I'd suggest he should address the "get a life" to the screaming imbecile he sees in the mirror.

I always feel like asking this question when these debates are raised so who would you think would be absolute perfect commentator for the SKY televised events Kev?

Personally, I'd go for someone with enough integrity to ignore a cretin from Sky Sports whispering in his ear something along the lines of "this is dire, Nigel, scream and shout like an imbecile and our cretinous viewers will think they're watching a classic". Sky really do seem to have contempt for the intelligence of the viewing public.

Chris Louis is very good but he lacks something. I am not sure if its confidence or 'authority' kev. If I was the paymaster he would not get a look in I'm afraid.
So the next one please?

He's almost something of too much of a nice guy but he did an excellent job in the pits at Leszno for the GPs. Personally I just hate Sky's 'stuck in a studio' attitude they give the GPs. The SWC coverage stands out by a mile. Why? The presenters are there, the interviewers are there and the commentators are there. It comes across ten times better than being stuck in a Surrey studio. PS. Even my Mum has commented on Pearson's awful commentary and his orgasmic shouts of delight.

Perhaps I stand alone here, but TBH I don't really have a problem with Nigel Pearson, at least he is reasonably accurate when commentating unlike Millard . My problem is Gurning Tatum and bouncing Greene, both surplus to requirements really if they are going to carry on with the 2 in the pits, tried last week. Put the bug eyed Tatum in commentary with Pearson and he's fine, but he is enough to frighten the kids with his leering at the screen when interviewing riders. (and in person very up himself Love Mark to bits but he is too boring on screen, and Sam "buddy" Ermolenko is arghhhhhh!!! I enjoyed Johnno's contribution and also Floppy when he's on, think it's the slightly tongue in cheek style they use, although for obvious reasons I like Chris Louis as well, especially when he is in the pits interviewing the riders. And get rid of Heuwen and bring in the lady who did the SWC, that to me was superb presenting, as a whole.

As you say I'd rather have him shouting fairly accurate things and shoehorning references to other tracks (and Cradley ) in than Tony Millard telling me Hans Nielsen is leading and where Leigh Adams comes from every 5 minutes. Kelvin's ok, harmless enough on screen but Jonathan Green bugs the life out of me to be honest. He still seems pretty clueless at times and some of the things he says aren't very well thought out.

Sky really do seem to have contempt for the intelligence of the viewing public. Totally agree. Sky Sports Camerawork: 9 out of 10 Sky Sports Commentaries: 3 out of 10 And that applies to most of their sports, not just speedway. "Dumbing down" reached a new level in sport when Sky started. You want an intelligent, informed commentary? No chance! When commentators describe a poor-to-average speedway meeting as "awesome, fantastic, brilliant" etc, they have no words left to describe one of the better meetings.

Keith Huewen is actually the anchor man for SKY Sports and not a commentator. Personally, I would say he would be even better as a commentator though. I have heard him track side at Donington Park and he is brilliant. He was a very successful road racer, and loves speedway, as I think his uncle or something was a speedway rider.
Your right Kev. There is no such thing as a ‘perfect commentator’. Keep it to yourself mate - but there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ anyone.

Oooh I don't know, Chris Drewett, brother of the late lamented Richard Drewett TV Producer (google him) is just about the best and could do a Royal Funeral he has that much gravitas. He is the man at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival and at some air shows alongside the equally brilliant Sean Maffett. Top man, sounds like Kenneth Horne but doesn't mind as long as nobody thinks he sounds like Kenneth Williams. We had a Supermarine Spitfire do a short display at an MAC event last year and he just picked up the roving mic. and did eight minutes unrehearsed and no support notes. I work alongside him about six times a year and bow to his superior style whenever I take over. I doubt he could do a speedway meeting justice though. Could be worse, we could have my man off Eurosport.
