As the BSF has gone down again can I nominate the Coventry fans who seem to think it's their own personal chat forum....considering the BSF is notorious for crashing due to exceeding bandwidth, they deserve the nomination for posting 8 pages of bollocks about their quiz night! It's not often I disagree with what you say Lupus, but I do on this occasion. It is afterall the close season, most teams have made their signings now so there is not a great deal going on. Also that quiz night was damn good! ;D If you are going to pick on that as wasting bandwidth what about Squirelnutkins almost daily update on her depression, baby's injections, whether she has managed to get any sleep, when the dad will look after the baby etc. etc. There are loads of threads that could be classed as wasting bandwidth so I think in this case you are being a bit unfair and letting your anti-Bees bias get in the way. I must admit that some of the Coventry fans are a pain in the neck, but that applies to all tracks.

Does anybody know what keeps causing it to crash It's never been very reliable since Phil changed servers to the present one. Heaven knows what has happened this time but when I looked this morning it appeared that everyone had been up all night posting at 3/4/5am. Obviously not but the clock was way out; perhaps that was the start of the problems.

I'm quite sure i'll come across some Coventry fans next weekend who don't make me cringe so much . ;D Is one allowed multiple posts on here or do we get put against a wall and shot? Oh well, I'll risk it. What time will you be getting there Paulco? I was hoping to spend a few hours at the show but now have to leave about 1pm so it will be a quick 2 hour visit this time. Will you be wearing a kilt so I can recognise you? ;D

A bit harsh Gemini, I think your seeing a very lonely young woman with a lot of problems and noone to help. I thought that the BSF was supposed to be a family of its own, and reading some of the threads it keeps being called that, but is it only a family for the chosen ones? The BSF has its place and maybe the sudden increase in members is giving it a problem, but is that because speedway is getting popular? How dare these new interlopers cause the BSF to crash. What ever happened to the Pinstripe is a twat bit, I liked that part of the thread. ;D

Does anybody know what keeps causing it to crash I'm not a technical person so don't know the answer, but there's a few things I'd like to say. Bandwidth was mentioned earlier in the thread. Is it a bandwith problem? The error we're getting isn't the 'Bandwidth Limit Exceeded' one that we've had in the past. In addition, the error always occurred at the end of the month. The MySQL one happens at various stages. If it is a bandwidth problem, why are we still getting one? The problem should have stopped when Backtrack sponsored the forum and increased the bandwidth. I feel the forum could be tidied up more in a number ways. Delete members who have never posted on the forum after a certain period of time. In my opinion, the meaning of a 'sticky' topic has been lost. There's too many of them on the BSF. They should for important issues only. If there was less, you would increase the chances of an important one like the 'Message From Sean' one being read. Do FAST still sponsor riders? If not, delete the section.

Dont think i can book into the Travel Inn until after 2 so i'll probably head straight for the show . Only worn the kilt once in my life Gem , at my eldest daughter's wedding , so it's a fair bet i wont have one on .

I've often wondered about the members that it boasts 6,500 or something like that , only a fraction of those actually post, but to remove someone from the forum because they don't post, is unfair, a lot of people read the forum but chose not to post on it (which uncludes me). Removing inactive members maybe more prudent, but does the amount of members cause it to crash though ....

Like me , some folk are shy and are too feart to post anything for fear of ridicule . Maybe they should look at some of the folk that do post and get rid of some of them . Edinburgh Monarchs and Glasgow Celtic fans should be first to be sacrificed to save the BSF .

I was actually using the Bees quiz night thread as an example of the issue rather than the sole cause! You can put it down to 'bias' if you like but to me those sort of threads belong on a clubs own forum not the BSF. I have said the same in the past about the threads where the Poole fans post what has been written in their local paper evey night - most of which is just fillers about how Bjarne Pedersen likes kippers for breakfast or whatever. If I were Phil I'd rethink whether the General Discussions section is needed. I do post on there quite a lot but if bandwidth IS the problem it's not really needed.

Lupus - I would have thought a more realiable server was more of a priority than getting rid of General Discussions - which is quite often the best bit of BSF. Why get rid of the best bit?? Meanwhile, people can discuss whatever topics they like on a forum - that's the whole point of them.

A few things here i'd like to say. No you can't get rid of members just because they don't post. Like Jacques & Paulco say some go on there just to keep up to date with topics the'y're interested in, some of them are a little shy too. I know a freind of mine hasn't posted & she's been a member 2 years now & she doesn't deserve her account deleting. I do agree that some of the stickies are unneccesary but the G D threads are excellent(when Pinny's not there). As for the quiz thread Lupus, i didn't see anyone complain when the Swindon pit-crew had their quiz thread so stop belly-aching. .There is a Bees forum but it's run independently, Mr Pratt won't have hide nor hair of an official one i'm afraid. That's his prerogative & i'm not going to slate him for it.

I don't blame him either Booey. I bet theres a few that wish they hadn't bothered at times...Anyway the Coventry fans have got there own forum. It's called the BSF... ;D I see it's still down, must be very poorly ...I might not post on it ,but I don't half miss it, I love nipping on and off through the day seeing the new topics and catching up on news..it ain't half addictive ...
