I would like to vote for everyone who talks about the bsf on here a forum gets started so people can say what they want unlike the bsf then almost 50% of the posts are about whats wrote on the bsf . Crazy . Hortonfan - I agree, but haven't you (and indeed myself by posting this) just fallen into exactly the same trap.

I disagree about member who haven't posted on any forum. If after a while they haven't contributed to a forum they should be kicked out. After all a forum is for members to contribute somethingCrap or otherwise.Non members and members who contribute nothing are just overloading the place, imo

Surely a membership is just a record on a database and storage of membership records is tiny, the greater volume of storage will be the threads..I 'm reliably informed that the problem showing on bsf is the corruption of one of the tables in the database, it's nothing to do with the volume of members, it is trying to resolve a query against that table that it can't complete hence the error. I rarely contribute to the BSF for reasons I don't need to justify....and if having to contribute bollocks is the way to stay on a forum then fine, I'm happy to write about the weather or something and waste this so called coveted bandwidth... and then they'll be moaning about that so you can't win .. So what you are saying is you might aswell make this a complete members only forum then, although there are a huge amount of guests who read it and some post without being members....and you must contribute something even if its bollocks... I disagree that you have to post regardless of what you say to stay on any forum...

My twopenneth. I'd hate it if the General Discussions section was axed. At present it's just about the only section I read (I do delve into the KL threads occasionally). I'm a lapsed speedway fan and the BSF and here are the only connection I have with the sport at present and I use it mainly to keep in touch with old friends and what they are up to, apart from which there are some cracking debates on there at times. If that connection goes, I doubt I'll ever return to the sport. At least by staying in touch with folk thro forums there is a chance I might go to meetings in future just to catch up with old friends (not when I'm blackmailed by ankle biters tho Jive ) That apart I do agree that bleating about BSF on here is pointless/stupid (insert word of your own choice), but as there is no BSF to bleat on at present where else are we to go baaaaaa ;D

No.Just being a member doesn'tIt is the amount of views that member makes.Generally the problem is with bandwidth or so they say.And that is due to the amount of people that look at posts. So if you stop people looking at posts(which is what they have done to a point with the EL,PL,CL sections to an extent)you solve that problem. But it doesn't solve the problem of the members who don't post. They can still view all sections and still cause that problem.

As Jacques has pointed out that is not the problem anyway it's resolving a query on a table that's the problem. It's there to be seen if you look.If i remember correctly this is the same as it has been before over the last few months. I feel Gemini is right when she says it's only been a problem since Phil changed to a different server. My SQL/ IPB or whichever need to rectify this before the season starts. Why is it that IPB boards with higher volumes can operate without any similar problems?

The thing is Macca that when the mods did that you had all & sundry joining up, so it didn't really solve what you see as a problem. There have been over 1,500 new usernames since that came into force.

That is why i say castrate the buggers and send them to Coventry(or their forum )if they don't contribute anything.Obviously they didn't think the problem through

If I were Phil I'd rethink whether the General Discussions section is needed. I doubt the General Discussions section accounts for a high percentage of the bandwidth. It attracts a relatively limited number of users, and few topics run to much discussion. There's far more discussion in the speedway-specific sections. Furthermore, I'd also agree that the GD section is some peoples' (such as myself) only real remaining link with the sport now.

My flapperjack of the week?
My brother for turning up at stupid o'clock on a Saturday morning, depositing 2 children with me (including a toddler) and then pissing off out into the garden.
Mind you, he is a mutts nuts as he is making my garden the envy of my neighbours!
*I don't really mind, just thought it would get the flapperjack back on track.

I nominate people who have to get threads "back on topic" Conversation meanders and eventually gets back "on topic" if there is anything else to say naturally. At least my conversations tend to wander. That is the magic of Billy Connolly. He starts of a topic and it leads to something else, which leads to something else.He might come back to the original subject but if he doesn't who gives a toss?Maybe FotW has run it's course for now ;D
