BJ, I'll happily take the nomination ;D My personal beliefs would not come into it should I be representing my nation. I would be just that a representative not an individual. IF I were chosen to represent my country at anything which is extremely unlikely and the national anthem was played, I would mime i.e imitate a goldfish. It is the anthem of this country until it's democratically changed, which for me cannot happen too soon. As for Crumpy singing Advance Australia Fair, I've seen him sing it (or mime brilliantly) - all the way thro and with pride. I've also seen Nicki P sing (or mime even more brilliantly) his all the way thro with pride. I've yet to see any Team GB rider from this year do the same with the possible exception of Bomber. David Norris used to sing it with gusto, I've seen Havvy sing it, both had pride in representing their nation and let the world see it. I've read that David Beckham actually had lessons on miming to God Save the Queen, tho I can't vouch for it being true All three appear to be proud to represent their nation and that's the point. They should show the world and their opponents that they are proud and it means something and they are not just treating it as a normal meeting. I'm sure you still won't understand me but hey I don't really care. Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is far superior anyway

Every now and then a Dickhead rears it's ugly one on the BSF and today is no exception, I nominate Alan Priddy for suggesting that Coventry should bin the Grumpy Golem. What a twat.

Star Lady
I do understand what you are saying...but to label someone as not being patriotic for not singing the national anthem i find rather insulting to say the least
As for Crumpie...You were obviously not watching the GP 2 years ago when he put his hat back on when he thought the australian national anthem had finished...forgetting there was another verse......very patriotic....Or is it a case of you dont like the British riders so its an easy way of knocking them
If you read Terry Russell's piece in the Speedway Star this year it was very informative about the world cup performance...making no excuses but letting it be known that wont happen again...even if they have to hire out tracks to get it right

that wont happen again...even if they have to hire out tracks to get it right BJ even if they have to hire out tracks I would have thought that, that would have been top priority for several years TBH, team practise, team bonding, information, help and advice, passing on knowledge from one rider to the other, all these things are paramount to teams representing their country, and working as a team, and also all of those " unambitious PL riders perhaps could join their better and ambitious fellow riders in the training days to show them what they can aspire to and they too can ride for the national team. The Danes do it, The Poles do it, why oh why have we not done it LOL, seem to remember having this argument with you in the past about singing the National Anthem BJB ;D

Agreed being in The Antipodes is no excuse for that post.So once again i change my vote & i suppose someone will think that makes me 1 but who cares.I take it Cousteau is with us on this 1 also.

We will have to disagree. Crumpy, if my memory serves me correctly was after he had WON something, when surely he was entitled to be slightly emotional and even a bit forgetful. Before events he sings the anthem. Terry Russell.....I try not to read anything by him. Personal choice. Off now to vote for Kenny Logan someone who is proud to be a Scot and doesn't care who knows it ;D.

well it's my choice and i'm going to go with what i think ...
seeing as the 'Team' GB thread is still running and this person is still making an arse of herself on there ... sticking up for her friend in the best possible way, you know, using a smilie to other people's posts, not actually putting any reasonable input to the thread when she supposedly has such strong views.
so, for successive weeks, it's shazzybird
but there's a twist ... this is going to be a joint award for the week. thanks to shazzybird and the jungle drums, Middlo made an appearance on the BSF for the first time since August. so for STILL claiming he was proud at coming 4th, and for giving lame excuses and saying things like 'well if i do it next year then maybe ... etc', i will give the other half of the award to the glorious, the fantastic, the loser, Neil Middleditch

Thank you for that young Hone. I have to say it's very well deserved in both instances.
