With respect tho Wibblemuis, unless you live in this part of the country and know how bad the floods were in 1953 it is difficult to understand. On the contrary, I'm currently in the Netherlands which is very threatened. Moreover, my father's side of the family is from Norfolk and we had a relation who drowned on the second floor in the 1953 floods. No problem with the authorities taking sensible precautions, but the UK media was scaremongering yesterday. Here in the Netherlands, they've quietly raised the flood defences and you're almost unaware that anything untoward might be happening.

Sorry I wasn't defending the media. I've not read the papers or really watched TV. Only media I've taken note of is the EDP website which IMHO is not scaremongering simply reporting facts.

Living in a flood risk area I'd far rather have 30-40 warnings and alerts and nothing happened than I don't disagree the authorities are damned either way, but in all honestly, if you have 30-40 alarms where nothing happens, people will no longer start to take them seriously. It's like all the 'unspecified terrorist warnings' with associated coloured-coded nonsense that kept getting issued a while back. They were completely pointless because you didn't know when, where or if anything would happen, and certainly almost no-one knows what 'Black Special' or 'Bikini Amber' is supposed to mean. Sorry I wasn't defending the media. I've not read the papers or really watched TV. I sat in the Netherlands yesterday, blissfully unaware about the storm surge heading our way. It wasn't until I got home and turned on the BBC where coverage was incessant, that I heard anything about it. I only later twigged that if the east coast of England is threatened, then the Netherlands would be just as much at risk. Totally different approaches to the problem.

To be fair Wibblemuis it was quite heavily featured on German tv.Even had a guy from the Port of Rotterdam on one channel. There was a bit of flooding in the Hamburg Port.About 40 cellars had to be pumped out,but it is now subsiding although the winds are still fairly strong

We were due to be hit pretty hard with the floods too, my middle son's school was closed today as back in 1953, his school had been under about 8 foot of water! I am alright where I am because I am at the top of the hill part of the town but my parents, my brother and my sister in law all live in the area most severely affected in 1953 (you can still see the mark on the wall in my parents house where the flood water reached, the whole of the downstairs!)
As it was, the surge was not as bad as expected but we still took a battering with our sea wall flood defence breached along the whole length but thankfully, our main flood wall held and only a small amount of water got underneath the flood gates. It's going to be a hell of a clean up though, with our award winning seafront gardens( beyond our sea wall but before our new flood wall) being completely wiped out (under water by about 3-4ft this morning in some places) .
So pleased it wasn't any worse, 1953 has horrible memories for our town when 41 residents died.

GB were very poor relations to every other team. I know that, you know that, virtually everyone knows that; but they're Middlo's "boys" and he's proud of them. And it's not the winning, it's the taking part. And do you want to deny Middlo his all expenses paid trip to Vojens in 2008?

Plus the moron sounds like he's expecting Tai Woffinden to don a Union Jack race jacket in the future. Deluded or just plain stupid?? According to Middlo, he knows more than you. Yes, Middlo has fought back on the pages of the BSF. It's somewhat strange that a manager apparently satisfied with 15 points in the SWC Final is slating PL riders for a lack of ambition. As for Woffinden, if he turns out as good as he looks, he'll probably be Australian, but if his career hits the buffers, he'll probably plump for a country that's happy with fourth best.

Another nomination for Middlo's pal i'm afraid . Just been reading the thread and there she is in full flow attacking everybody who had the audacity to critisize the sacred cow . Middleditch came on to the BSF to defend himself and his team - fair enough , he said his piece and then left . But then enter Miss Blue Wkd like some sort of big sister out to bash the bullies - dear oh dear oh dear .

I'd like to think he does know more than me! Still think he's living the dream if he's waiting for Tai to ride for GB lmfao.
As for Miss Blue Wkd, she has the audacity to slate people for 'insulting' her 'mate' yet she seems to have no problem doing exactly the same to everyone else when she feels fit.

I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about when you talk of Miss Blue Wkd. Never seen her in Leszno and probably wasn't at Coventry so some Team GB fan she is I will be in trouble now, you watch If Middlo had been a football manager he would have been sacked a long time ago and now managing a conference league team.

I'm inclined to nominate the whole of Team GB simply because they don't appear to know the words of the National Anthem, as reported by Middlo on BSF. It beggars belief that anyone representing their nation doesn't know their anthem . Can you imagine Nicki, Crumpy or Gollob being unable to sing their respective anthems . Cos not they sing them with gusto. It's called pride and patriotism. If riders haven't got that they shouldn't be wearing their nations colours IMHO. * I will add that on a personal level, I do object to asking an almighty being who I do not believe in to save a woman who is far more wealthy than myself but I do so when it's an official occasion (or I appear to ;D) and I'm representing an organisation or other people, let alone representing my nation.

I would like to nominate Star Lady for having a go at people not singing the national anthem and then saying she does not believe in God or the Royalty which fucks up the first line of the national anthem....And then claiming without doubt that Nicki or Crumpie know there national anthem word for word...I would suggest Crumpie probably knows the national anthem on England more than he does Aussie....
I have no worries about criticism of the national team....they were not good enough plain and simple...thats life...nor was Lewis Hamilton....but for god sake your like a stuck record....If you remember the winners of the world cup did not qualify for the final last year...so who knows what will happen next year.....
