Best new of the day, tremendous appointment (take a bow Mr Barwick ) and full marks to Steve McClaren for missing out Euro 2008 or we'd have been stuck with him ;D

Just out of interest, does Fabio Capello speak any English? Apperently he's been given the FA handbook for coaches who dont speak English very well . It's an everyday guide for the foreign coach with helpful words and phrases . The most important ones being - Bung , Faria Alam , my words were taken out of context , the press are evil bastards , Ulrika Jonsson and of course - we are not worried as we can still qualify despite this defeat .

Didn't he say he thought he could learn enough English to get by in a month. Guessing he'll have to know "you know" first, or the lads won't be able to hold a conversation. Anyway, first match under Capello tonight and no Beckham, with Owen expected to start on the bench. That means Crouch starting then.

Owen doesn't deserve to start if Capello was to go with who is in the best form or who is match fit like he did with his decision on Beckham. Crouch + Rooney have both scored more than him this season.

Maybe so, but I've never been a fan of Crouch. In fact I have little enthusiasm for any of them, except perhaps Defoe (at least I think it's him!) Rooney is always offside, as is Crouch, and Owen just stands around in front of the net waiting for the ball to come to him - all well and good when Beckham's playing, but he's not. But I'd take Owen over Crouch any day.

Hope England can win convincingly tonight. They have a squad there capable of alot more than what they have been delivering recently, and hopefully with the right man at the helm now, they can start to realise that potential.
I was gutted Becks didn't get the 100 cap but I 100% certain he will as soon as he starts playing again. But I do agree with Hanson, if he had given him his last cap tonight then it would have been over and done with. Now every squad that is announced the Beckham question will be asked....Personally I thinks Becks can get more than 100 caps, cause basically he is just that good.
Anyway im away to watch the rest of the match
C'mon England.

As for the one up front,,,,,,,,,,,,,when that one is as good as Wayne Rooney its all you need ;D

Not an overly convincing display but a win is a win. Motty did say that the Swiss are a very defence minded side& so it proved.Bentley was the only player who really impressed me, the rest we're ok in on & off.Super work from Joe Cole for the Jenas goal. On the Swiss goal where the hell was Ferdinand, scratching his bleeding arse until it was too late that's where. Wright -Phillips was pretty hopeless apart from the goal which was made for him anyway.Gerrard did ok but wasn't a m.o.t.m i've already said who deserve that.Rooney was unlucky tonight.
