Having seen some of the confirmed riders for Saturday, does it justify paying the £15 entrance fee for the 'Gp riders as seen on Sky' that was advertised last week?

Depends on the track, dear fellow. If the track is well prepared and lends itself to glorious racing, I couldn't really care if the GP superstars are there or not. But it's about time Waite stopped buggering around with silly little individual tournaments and gave us a twenty heat meeting - none of this twelve heat shit and then a final.

Was it not the Bordernapolis a couple of years ago when we were promised top names only for them not show up, as a result their replacements put on a bloody good show, good racing etc. however are we to be promised Gp names, only for them to give it the 'Is there really speedway past watford gap?' patter.
If the plan is to go down the road of EL second strings+PL heatleaders, then advertise it as such! Dont just con us once again.
Sub? Do you remember the beggar in the bordernapolis? Just was not weird enough!

That was 2005 - the Billys J and H were supposed to be in attendance, but weren't. As you say, it was a good meeting and we did see a future GPer in Chris Harris. But I agree, Waite should be a little more open about things. Last year's Bordernapolis GPer was, in fact, the "wild card" for the British GP, Simon Stead. But, who knows, still a name to be announced for the 40th celebration meeting - how about the great Tomasz Gollob, or even Wieslaw Jagus making a (very) rare appearance in the United Kingdom ahead of the Cardiff GP? I didn't see the beggar at Berwick - it wasn't remotely weird enough for me.

WARNING: The following post contains strong language.
Well, the final name has been announced. And it seems to be David Meldrum. Yes, that's right, David fucking Meldrum. Well, that's my decision made. I'm not going. I'm not coughing over my hard earned for a twelve heat meeting followed by a final contested by a bunch of nonentities. Might as well not have bothered having a fucking celebration meeting if that's the best you can manage. Much as I was looking forward to seeing Grzegorz Knapp and much as I enjoy witnessing the weirdity at work, David fucking Meldrum is the straw that broke this Bergstrom's (wonder if Goldmember will get my subtle joke?) back. I think Peter Waite needs to reconsider his decision to open the turnstiles early - can't imagine a huge crowd will flock to this shambles of a meeting.

Well me old mongol warlord, i would have preferred to see some top class names from the EL and PL such as bomber, adams and co also Andre Compton(former bandit) Zorro, Stoney etc , however i do think that David should be in the meeting before Bergstrom. Local rider, having ridden for the bandits since 1994. He deserves a place before some of the 'others'
No mention of the likes of David Walsh, David Blackburn, Jimmy Nilsen, Kelvin Tatum, Scott Lamb, Michael Lowrie, Chris Readshaw, Jorg Pingel. I could go on!!!!!

The latest spin from the Bandits' promotion is:
Over 100 former Bandits, 12 top stars on track, 2 u-15 Stars of Tomorrow races, a 1968 revisited match race, extended bar, host of former promoters, yes... this is the biggest night in decades!
Berwick Speedway counts down to 48 hours before …….More stars of the last 39 seasons are revealed.
IT’S THE BIG ONE!!!
Twelve top stars on track? Where? Certainly twelve top stars haven't been announced for the meeting as of yet. The line-up for last year's Bordernapolis was better. In fact, even after Messrs Hamill and Janniro had withdrawn, the line-up for the 2005 Bordernapolis was better than this line-up. It's a fucking embarrassment. But the main complaint is that the main part of the meeting will only consist of fourteen heats. That's one less than a fucking league meeting, but the admission price is higher. And I'll tell you what, a lot of league meetings have better line-ups. I'll not be there. I'd be interested to see Grzegorz Knapp, but I'd guess with him in the MSJ camp, we'll see plenty of him in the future. Personally, I couldn't care if I never see Meldrum and the Camel on track again.

I'm afraid I shall be giving it a miss. Probably. Not very inspiring, for me at least.
Poor line-up; poor format.
I'm not one to moan in general, but this is very disappointing I'm afraid.

Probably wonder how many of the riders bothered to turn up. Former or current? Things may get weird tonight.
