Curling is fantastic. Maybe you could explain to us the exact reasons why you watched. Because I like watching Curling. It's chess on ice. All sorts of tactics with each side trying to outmanouvre the other. Of course, you got to the final and suddenly there were millions more watching it because Great Britain had the chance of winning a Gold Medal (which they did ). But I'd been watching for two weeks before that. Curling is my fifth favourite sport behind Ice Speedway, Speedway, F1 and Snooker. Nearly the 2010 Winter Olympics as well. I much prefer the Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics, the latter is a bit boring.

Hactham, I do understand where you are leading, but the Speedway on Sky has a hardcore audience in the UK of a couple of hundred thousand. I don't think Mark Loram being on the verge of being World Champion in 2000 suddenly caused several million people to watch the concluding round in Bydgoszcz. Actually I know it didn't. It makes little difference to Sky's figures whether the Brits are successful or not, the viewing figures have not fallen away in the last couple of years whilst Nicholls and Harris have struggled badly. There doesn't need to be any regular Brits in the GP series to maintain Sky's GP viewing figures. And there certainly doesn't need to be two of them.

Maybe Genghis, Maybe not, but if you were one of the decision makers would you really want to take the chance ? We all have to face facts, a GP series without any British involvement COULD see a reduction in viewing figures, and that COULD see the end of the competition. Some people may see that as a good thing, but obviously the organizers would beg to differ.

Hatcham - ice is also quite useful for the king of all sports, that being Ice Speedway, of course. That's the sport for the bravest of men. Not like the big girlie Yanks you watch playing Rugby, but with Joan Collins' shoulder pads on.

In five or six years Genghis you Dibleyites will all catch the NFL bug............I predict you'll all be wearing Lois jeans and Ellesse tops then aswell.

And Harris is just morphing into being the Beggar Lite. Sorry...but I gotta bullshit on that statement.... No way is Harris turning into "Beggar Lite"....Harris is creating a whole new level with his Über-Beggar antics. For all that you diss Scotty, he at least actually won his place in the SGP a couple of times, and was in the ball-park of the top 8 when he accepted his gifts....Harris has been nowhere near the cut-off for the last two years and is just embarrassing himself by going back again. As for why he has even been given the opportunity to shame himself and an entire nation again...As I posted on the BSF, I suspect that Holta is to blame....If we accept that IMG want two Brits in (for whatever reason), they HAD to give a place to Harris or be in danger of having 3 shit Brits in the SGP if Rune drops out....By including Harris, they ensure that if Rune cries off, he is replaced by another Pole.....

Hatcham, Ellesse tops are so 1990s (which is when I had one ). You need to get up-to-date.

Actually old chap Ellesse tops and Lois jeans were in fashion in the early to mid 80's, which was when NFL first appeared on our screens ! That was the point of my tongue-in-cheek post, it was all a bit of a whoosh for you though wasn't it ? where's Orion when you need him ?

No way is Harris turning into "Beggar Lite"....Harris is creating a whole new level with his Über-Beggar antics. ..Harris has been nowhere near the cut-off for the last two years and is just embarrassing himself by going back again. As for why he has even been given the opportunity to shame himself and an entire nation again... Oh my god ! not this old chestnut again ! Britain has two entrants and Harris is the current British champion as well as the only current Briton to have won a GP, his inclusion is an absolute no-brainer. I am not a fan of comparing speedway to other sports, for example "could you imagine Wayne Rooney playing for teams in three different countries" Or "could you imagine Wayne Rooney guesting for Liverpool because Torres was out" blah blah blah, however all sports need to learn from each other, and the biggest and most popular of them all, Football, proves how having competitors from as many countries as possible is a winner. Lets take the World cup, Honduras, North Korea and New Zealand will all be there, whereas far superior teams such as Sweden, Czech Republic and maybe even Portugal will/maybe not, they are the price we pay to guarantee a balanced competition. Lets then look at the biggest club competion in World sport, the European Football Champions League, realistically apart from a once-in-a-blue-moon victory by someone like Porto, the victors will always come from England, Spain, Italy or maybe Germany, it would be fair to say that many teams from those countries who do not make the cut are far superior to those who have qualified from lesser football nations, but would the competition be better if all entrants hailed from four countries ? personally i think not. Lets look at a country like Scotland, every year Celtic and Rangers get the opportunity to make their mark in the Champions League and every year they humiliate themselves (just like Britains speedway riders) so what is the alternative ? Do we say, "well Celtic and Rangers have proved themselves incompetent, so lets give Hibernian or Hearts or Stenhousemuir a go" ? personally again i think not. Celtic and Rangers prove themselves to be Scotlands best, and Harris has proved himself Britains best, so of course they should get the opportunity to compete. And of course the systems flaws do not make them beggars.
