Just had a look on the BSF, and surprise surprise it's filled with thread after thread regarding the line up for next years GP, i have to say the subject has become one big fucking........YYYYYYAAAAAAWWWWWWNNNNN. It has always been my preference to see the best 16 riders compete, which would obviously mean a competition without British riders, however the system/competition is run under different rules, and it frustrates the fuck out of me that posters can not EVER see the bigger picture. Reminds me of a scene i saw played out in a newsagents once. Kid "I want some sweets" Mother "I dont have any money" Kid "But i want some" Mother " I dont have any money" Kid " but you said i could have some today" Mother "I dont have any money" Extremely annoying.................just like the continual whinging about Britain having two picks and Harris justifiably receiving one of them. It is what it is, sport is rarely fair, and the current system in the GP's is no different to the systems in many other and may i say much bigger sporting competitions such as the Football World cup and the Olympics. And as for the much posed question "Britain would still have a wild-card entry at Cardiff, so would the attendance really suffer"...........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Shut the fuck up............. Hatcham, blimey someone got the wrong side out of bed this morning. But the question remains: why shouldn't fans kick up a fuss when the World Championship GP series, supposedly a series that SHOULD feature the best riders in the world, will feature a rider who has continually failed to qualify for the series. Yes Harris is the best British rider about at the moment, but he hasn't EVER qualified for the GP series. He had TWO chances this year (one on his home track ) and blew them both. There's riders such as Lindback (a finalist as a wildcard this year), Iversen (another wildcard finalist) and Ward (a sensational talent who would hold his own at any level) who would put up a better show. Fans do have the right of a say on forums - as they do pay good money to attend GP events. Blimey, people moan about Nicholls, but at least he qualified for 3/8ths of the GP seasons he competed in. Harris's record is 0/4.

This just shows the sad and sorry state of speedway. All the nominations are a bit of a joke. Lindgren, like Harris, has never qualified for the GPs - he's heading towards being a Swedish version of the beggar. Andersen is drifting aimlessly. Woffinden is nowhere near ready - he's no Sajfutdinov; hasn't the backing that Sajfutdinov has, nor the talent. And Harris is just morphing into being the Beggar Lite. Who bought Cardiff 2007 for him, that's what I'd like to know?

Where is it said that the GP's are for the worlds best 16 riders ? and who gets to decide who the 16 best are ? we certainly wouldn't all agree. For the record i consider that Harris HAS qualified, Britain gets two nominations, and he is British champion, the British speedway authorities have decided to put faith in the British championship, as shown by the highest placed non GP rider receiving the Cardiff wild-card, so it is obvious that Harris should be one of the two. The travesty(it could be argued) is that Kennett should have received the second. As for "people moaning about Nicholls" you mean people like........You ? Finally, i have not said that forum members who travel to Cardiff do not have the right of opinion, just that they need to look at the bigger picture and not be so one-dimensional.

Well, I for one look forward to laughing at Bummer Harris' pathetic showings next season. He finished thirteenth in 2008, fourteenth in 2009 and only the inclusion of Woffinden will stop him finishing fifteenth in 2010.

And whilst I am not over the moon about Harris being in again, I DO agree that we should have TWO Brits in the GP's - and therefore I see why they have chosen him. Lindgren and Hans HAVE TO be in too....the GP's just wouldn't be the same without them. I'd rather see them any day than the likes of Hancock and Adams.

Zonkers, a simple question: how many times have Hancock and Adams been seeded into the GP series between them? A total of zero, I believe. And when the going got too tough for Leigh this year, he had the dignity to announce his retirement from the series and then finish second in the final Grand Prix. Can't believe you don't think Greg should be in the series. A former World Champion, winner of numerous GP rounds (including one in 2009) and the current World No. 4.

Genghis has always struggled to see the bigger picture Zonkster, don't take it personally. For what its worth, if it was down to me Britain would have zero entrants and if i was forced to choose one Briton who i thought would perform the best it would be Lee Richardson, but it was as clear as clear could be that he would never get a nomination, and that Britain would get two picks............why can some posters just not get it ?

Hatcham, if you look at my posts of why I thought should be in and who I thought would be in, I did think two Brits end up in it - and that it would be Harris & Woffinden. BUT that doesn't mean I think it's right. However, you seem to think we shouldn't be entitled to our opinion.

Personally, I find Greg a joy to watch. Very skillful rider. Whereas most riders put their brains in the toolbox before they go out on track, Greg has supreme trackcraft.

It's not a question of not being entitled to your opinion Genghis, or for that matter what is right or wrong, but simple market forces. In my opinion the Speedway GP's would be more attractive without any Britons, and the Football World cup would be better with the omission of all Asian, Australasian, North and Central American countries, and most of the African and South American nations, or to put it another way better with, 29 European teams plus, Ghana, Brazil and Argentina, however market forces dictate that the World at large wants to see competition from a whole host of nations, and the same can be said for speedway. Also Genghis old chap, you once posted how you got up in the middle of the night to watch Olympic Curling............ that speaks volumes.

Finally a post of yours i agree with Genghis. How ironic that it contains the word 'toolbox.
