Karen Carpenter had the most beautiful voice. Such a tragic waste of life I agree, and to make it even worse, she had no choice, unlike many others before and after her who contributed to their own demise with drink/drugs.........such a tragedy!!!

Well, her over-use of laxatives and diet drugs were a contributory factor, as I understand it. She suffered from eating disorders most of her life I believe - and back in the day when there wasn't much understanding or tolerance of it.

I stand corrected then........I never knew that......but a tragedy nonetheless!!!

OK it's high time this thread got away from the lame easy listening crap (the bloody Carpenters... purlease ;D ;D ) and we had some hard rock. So here's my choice for Led Zeppelin: www.youtube.com/watch?v=svR3iXKTJvc

Plenty to choose from: Kashmir, Whote Lotta Love (i.e. the Top Of The Pops theme tune for donkeys years), the wonderfully bluesy Since I've Been Loving You, Dazed And Confused, Black Dog, Thank You, the kick-ass Achilles' Last Stand, just about anything off Led Zeppellin III etc. Beats the bleedin' Carpenters any day ;D

Hatcham, Led Zeppellin were actually a no-hit wonder. They didn't release any singles in the UK during the period they were together. But they did have something like eight successive No.1 albums and smashed the records for live audiences. Hatcham, so what do you think was Led Zeppelin's "hit"? Whatever it was, I can assure you it wasn't
