And a disappointing night for those muck-loving types down at the stadium formerly known as Brough Park sees the sludge troopers win: NEWCASTLE..441..S Boxall..2,1,1,3,1 = 8 2..D Sneddon..0,3,6,0,1 = 103..T Leverington..R/R 4..K Larsen..0,1,2,3,3 = 95..J King..3,1,3,1 = 86..C Wortmann..3,1,0,0,1,1 = 67..C Branney..1,0,0,2',0 = 3+1REDCAR..491..G Havelock..3,3,2,2,2 = 122..R Kessler..1,2',0,0 = 3+13..C Stonehewer..2',2',2',2',0 = 8+44..B Wilson..3,3,3,2 = 115..T Proctor..2,2,3,0 = 76..B Compton..0,0,1,3 = 47..A Bugeja..2,1',1,0 = 4+1Taken from: www.newcastlespeedway.netThe support may claim to love the "muck", but it seems the track had nothing in it and the Bears "stole a march" from the traps on most occasions.

And the season just goes from bad to disastrous for the "muck-lovers" at Byker, as Sheffield romp away with a win and 4 Premier Trophy points: NEWCASTLE..391..S Boxall..2,2,3,0,2 = 92..D Sneddon..1',0,3,1 = 5+13..T Leverington..0,0,0,1' = 1+14..K Larsen..2,0,2,3 = 75..J King..1,3,1,2,1' = 8+16..C Wortmann..0,0,0,0 = 07..J Branney..1,3,1,4 = 9SHEFFIELD..501..R Ashworth..3,3,2',3,3 = 14+12..P Cooper..0,0,0 = 03..R Hawkins..3,2,0,X = 54..J Parsons..1,1',2,2 = 6+15..R Hall..0,1,3,1 = 56..J Auty..2',T,1,3,0 = 6+15..C Mills..3,2,3,2,3,1',0 = 14+1Taken from: www.newcastlespeedway.netLooks like a truly abject performance from the Diamonds, although obviously a very good one for Sheffield (who were, no doubt, rolling at the starts) and in particular Ashworth and Mills. I can't imagine too many places Mills will get a go in Ht 15. And, in case you're wondering about the number of zeroes (apart from those wearing the famous Diamond), Ashworth was the only rider who managed to complete Ht 5 - the remaining three all retired.

Funny really how the #1 & #7 both got the top scores for both teams. Not only the top scores, but the scores were identical - Boxall and Branney both scored 9, while Ashworth and Mills both scored 14+1. Do I have to say it again ? Rico I wonder if young genghis was ever the team manager of those two?

And the Diamonds finally get a Premier Trophy win under the belts, but paulco's heathen Tigers head back north of the border with a point for keeping it close: NEWCASTLE..481..S Boxall..2,0,3,1,0 = 62..D Sneddon..1',3,3,1 = 8+13..T Leverington..1',1',3,3 = 8+24..K Larsen..2,2,1,3,3 = 115..J King..3,3,0,0 = 66..C Wortmann..0,1,2,0 = 37..C Branney..2,2',1,1 = 6+1GLASGOW..451..S Parker..3,3,6,2',2 = 16+12..R Brady..R/R 3..P J Larsen..0,0,0,2 = 24..J Grajczonek..3,2,0,2,1' = 8+15..J Grieves..1,1',2,3,1' = 8+26..M Davey..0,1',0 = 1+17..A Andersen..3,0,2,2,0,0,2 = 98..A McKinna..1 = 1Taken from: www.newcastlespeedway.netAlmost another "master class" from the Messiah, but he had to give second best to Kenni Larsen in Ht 15 - Larsen does look a solid prospect; I've only heard good reports.

Larsen is indeed a fine prospect . Best meeting i've seen this season by a country mile . Disappointed we didn't manage the win , 1 point from r/r probably cost us - although James Grieves looked very under-power in his first couple of rides .

Seems to be all or nothing for the Bandits at Newcastle tonight - they've either won or come last in every heat so far.

Yes, another miserable Sunday for regulars at the stadium formerly known as Brough Park as the Diamonds fall to another defeat. Newcastle..391..S Boxall..R/R 2..T Leverington..2,1',3,1,0,1' = 8+23..J King..2,2,3,0,1,2 = 104..D Sneddon..1',1',1',1,0 = 4+35..K Larsen..1',2,2,2,2 = 9+16..C Wortmann..2,1',0,1 = 4+17..C Branney..1',2,1,0 = 4+1Berwick..511..W Lawson..3,3,3,3,3 = 152..T Aarnio..0,0,2,1 = 33..P Clews..0,0,3,3 = 64..J Franc..3,3,2',2',0 = 10+25..M Makovsky..3,3,2,1 = 96..D Warwick..0,0,0 = 07..G Franchetti..3,0,0,2',3 = 8+1Taken from: www.newcastlespeedway.netOnly two race wins in fifteen heats of speedway tells the sorry tale of Newcastle's basic lack of firepower. Berwick certainly look a lot more competent going to circuits like the Byker bowl with Messrs Lawson and Franc (a former Diamond, of course) on board. And, speaking of boards, it looks like George English and "Dickie" Juul will be heading off to their drawing one.

And a win for the "Muck Men" against the mighty EDinburgh Monarchs at the stadium formerly known as Brough Park: NEWCASTLE..461..S Boxall..2,0,2,3 = 72..T Leverington..0,1,2,1' = 4+13..D King..3,2,3,3,1 = 124..D Sneddon..2',1',0,3 = 6+25..K Larsen..0,3,3,2',3 = 11+16..C Wortmann..3,0,0 = 37..C Branney..0,1,1',0,1 = 3+1EDINBURGH..441..R Fisher..1,0,2,T = 32..A Summers..3,1,3,3,1',0 = 11+13..R Hall..0,2,3,2 = 74..A Tully..R/R 5..M Wethers..3,2',2,1,2,2 = 12+16..M Rajkowski..1',3,1',1',0,1',0 = 7+47..S Stoddart..2,2',0,0 = 4+1Taken from: www.newcastlespeedway.net/Very poor from the Monarchs, paulco is pleased.

I am not sure if we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory or if Newcastle snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Either way well done to Newcastle on their comeback.
The track was very rough on the first and second bends and then there was the huge "no mans land" off bends three and four if a rider moved out. Both teams had problems with this.
Things started badly for Ryan with him blowing his engine and it just got worse. I think he was trying too hard and got nowhere. He will be totally frustrated with that performance. Aaron was a revelation but at the cost of totalling his engine. Our guest Richard Hall was scray at times but his never say die efforts were much appreciated. Matthew was always in the thick of things. Michal's gating wasn't as effective as usual and Sean had only one poor programmed ride in heat 8.
For Newcastle, Kenni Larsen after a duff first ride showed us why the Diamonds' fans love him. Trent Leverington looked poor. Jason King looked good. Steve Boxall had a much improved performance and Deek put in a terrific ride in heat 14 which effectively put the nail in our coffin. Casper Wortmann had one good ride and Craig Branney blew a bit hot and cold but was always trying hard.
So imo it was points lost and the top of the table is getting quite tight.
Two things of note:
Firstly in heat 11 I initially thought Larsen had brought down Summers but after the race it was announced that Aaron had seized his engine. So why was it all four back then?
Secondly, what a fabulous programme Newcastle have. The best I have seen.

How was the print in the Newcastle programme ? When we were there it contained an interesting interview with Joey Owen , but you needed a magnifying glass to read the thing . But it is a fine programme , and your own ain't too bad either .
