Another home win for the Barbarians tonight and this time it was the Wasps from Newport: WORKINGTON..531..K Doolan..3,3,3,3,3 = 152..J Branney..R/R 3..A Rymel..3,3,3,3,2' = 14+14..R Lawson..2',0,1,2',1 = 6+25..A Compton..3,3,1,0 = 76..C Cook..0,3,0,1,2',0,0 = 6+17..D Warwick..1,2',0,2' = 5+2NEWPORT..431..M Lemon..2,2,6,2,1 = 132..P Fry..1',1',6,2',0 = 10+33..B Werner..0,2,0 = 24..C Kerr..1,0,1,2' = 4+15..J Frampton..0,2,1,1' = 4+16..K Newman..0,1',0,0 = 1+17..J Holder..2,1,2',1,3 = 9+1Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comWell, the Welsh types might be Wasps, but they were well and truly stung by Messrs Doolan and Rymel tonight. However, somewhat unusual to see both Tactical Rides result in 1-8s. The Wasps again let down by their American duo and Frampton.

A win on the night for the Barbarians against the heathen Monarchs, but it wasn't anywhere near enough to see them through to the next round of the KO Cup: WORKINGTON..47 [81]1..K Doolan..0,3,3,0 = 62..J Branney..R/R 3..A Rymel..3,1,3,3,2 = 124..R Lawson..1,0,2,2',1 = 6+15..A Compton..3,3,2,1,1' = 10+16..C Cook..3,1,1,0,3 = 87..J Sedgmen..1,1,2',0,1,0 = 5+1EDINBURGH..43 [99]1..R Fisher..3,3,3,3,3,0 = 152..T H Jonasson..R/R 3..M Rajkowski..2',0,0,0,2 = 4+14..A Tully..2,2',2,2,2,3 = 13+15..M Wethers..1,2,1,1,2' = 7+16..A Summers..2,T,1,0,1' = 4+17..S Stoddart..0,0,0,0 = 0Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comAnother hugely disappointing performance from Kevin Doolan - he should never be beneath double figures.

And if he made it to Derwent Park, Ian Thomas got to see his Comets take a narrow win against paulco's beloved heathen Tigers (paulco was definitely among the dust monsters in Barbaria): WORKINGTON..481..K Doolan..2,3,3,2,2 = 122..C Wright..R/R 3..A Rymel..3,3,3,3,1' = 13+14..R Lawson..0,1,1',1,0 = 3+15..A Compton..3,0,2,0 = 56..C Cook..0,1',3,1',2',2 = 9+37..J Branney..2,1,1,2,0 = 6GLASGOW..451..J Grieves..3,2,3,6,0 = 142..J Grajczonek..R/R 3..R Harrison..2,2,3,1',0 = 8+14..J Sedgmen..T,1',1',2,3 = 7+25..S Johnston..2,2,2,1,3 = 106..M Davey..1,3,0,0,1,1 = 67..L Dicken..0,0,0,0,0 = 0Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comThis meeting saw snyper1010 making his updating debut in a meeting where the Babas take two points and the heathen Tigers one point.

After the carnage at Armadale on Friday, a depleted King's Lynn team made the journey from the land of the heathens to Barbaria where they were comfortably beaten by the Comets in the first leg of the Premier Trophy semi-final: WORKINGTON..511..K Doolan..3,2,3,3,3 = 142..C Wright..R/R 3..J Lyons..2,3,2,3 = 104..R Lawson..1',0,0,1',1' = 3+35..A Compton..3,3,2,2',2' = 12+26..C Cook..0,2,0,1' = 3+17..J Branney..1',2',0,3,1,0,2 = 9+2KING'S LYNN..391..T Proctor..1',2,3,0 = 6+12..L Eklof..2,1',1',0 = 4+23..C Schramm..3,1',2,2,0 = 8+14..E Sanchez..0,2,0,3 = 55..T Topinka..0,1',3,1,1 = 6+16..K Smith..3,3,2,0,1' = 9+17..J Graversen..0,1,W = 1Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.com

In spite of the loss of Adrian Rymel mid-meeting, the Comets managed to beat a solid-looking Sheffield side in Barbaria tonight. But the Yorkshire Tigers did manage to keep it close enough to merit a Premier League point: WORKINGTON..471..K Doolan..3,0,3,2',1 = 9+12..C Wright..R/R 3..A Rymel..3,3,0,W = 64..R Lawson..2',2',0,3,1' = 8+35..A Compton..3,3,3,3,3 = 156..C Cook..0,0,0,0,0 = 07..J Branney..1,0,1,2,1,2,2 = 9SHEFFIELD..431..R Ashworth..2,0,2,1 = 52..H Skidmore..1',1,1,0 = 3+13..J Parsons..1,1',1',1 = 4+24..R Hall..0,2,2,3,2 = 95..J Auty..1',3,2,0 = 6+16..C Mills..3,2',1',3,0 = 9+27..P Cooper..2',2,3,0 = 7+1Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comLooks very much like the Greater Compton scuppered the chances of his old team in Barbaria.

Another home win for the Barbarians at Derwent Park tonight, but once again they didn't take all three points as the resurgent Diamonds kept it close enough to take a point: WORKINGTON..491..K Doolan..2,3,3,3,1' = 12+12..C Wright..R/R 3..R Fisher..3,3,0,3,2 = 114..R Lawson..0,0,1,3,2 = 65..A Compton..3,3,1,2' = 9+16..C Cook..1',2',0,0 = 3+27..J Branney..3,0,1,3,0,1,0 = 8NEWCASTLE..441..K Larsen..3,1',3,1,0 = 8+12..D Sneddon..0,2,0,2' = 4+13..J King..2,1',1',2 = 6+24..R Bach..1',2,2,6,3 = 14+15..M Lemon..2,2,2,0 = 66..A McKinna..0,0,M,0 = 07..T Leverington..1,1',2,1',1 = 6+2Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comIt seems that Rene Bach was the star of the show for the Diamonds tonight, but where on earth is the Lesser Wright these days?

Tonight's rained off Workington v Edinburgh meeting has been rearranged for August 22nd. And the result was a draw, but that no longer means "honours even" as the Monarchs get two points and the Barbarians just one point: WORKINGTON..451..K Doolan..2,3,3,3,2' = 13+22..P Morris..0,W = 0 3..A Rymel..3,3,2,3,3 = 144..R Lawson..R/R 5..A Compton..0,3,3,0,2 = 86..S James..1,0,0,0,0,0 = 17..J Branney..3,1,1,0,2,1,1 = 9EDINBURGH..451..R Fisher..3,2,2,2,1 = 102..M Rajkowski..1,1',1,1' = 4+23..M Dilger..0,1',0 = 1+14..M Wethers..2,2,2,3,0 = 95..K Wolbert..3,2,3,1' = 9+16..A Summers..2,1',3,0,2,1 = 9+17..B Bekker..0,2',1 = 3+1Taken from: www.monarchs-chatzone.co.ukA good result for the heathen Monarchs, but it could and probably should've been a whole lot better as they went into Ht 15 four points to the good. However, a tumble for captain Matilda Wethers while running a second place in Ht 15 was a minor disaster, especially as Fisher was ridden out of it in the re-run. Anyway, a great score from Wolbert, who - as paulco might say - showed no ill-effects from his experience of the West Lothian "trick track" last evening.

That was definitely more than I expected, but it also seems something like a failure after leading for so long.
With Max and Kevin settling down, I really never expected anything out of this match, but Kevin apparently showed just why he is regarded so highly. Following on from a very respectable Dale debut on Friday he delivered a quality score tonight....Maybe we have found a REAL replacement for THJ (although, to be fair to him, he already looked better round the Dale in his first match than THJ had achieved any time I have seen him!)
Without wanting to sound too harsh, Ryan Fisher continues to disappoint me. He is better than he is delivering points wise at this level, and should be offering better than he tends to do when it comes to the crunch!
Edit - Also meant to mention that I hope that Phil is OK after his early crash!

No results from last Saturday's meeting??
Quite a good meeting, with King's Lynn deserving winners as they put the mathematical seal on the championship. Ward was exceptional - posting a time just 0.1 seconds outside the track record in his first-ever ride at the circuit.
Maybe the highlight of the day, however, was the darkie's walloper I ate at the Workington chippie earlier in the day. ;D

WORKINGTON skipper Kevin Doolan has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to rib and shoulder injuries.
The Australian was hurt last month but had hoped to return to boost the Comets' hopes in the final stages of the Young Shield competition.
Doolan said: "It's terribly frustrating to sit back and watch the races when you want to be out there yourself."
BSPA.
