And so the regular season of the Ekstraliga reaches its halfway point with some interesting fixtures between bitter local rivals, as Rzeszow take on Tarnow and Zielona Gora take on Leszno. The Zielona Gora-Leszno fixtures, particularly in the Falubaz backyard can get very heated on the terraces, so expect the television cameras to be present as the Bulls attempt to get their stuttering season back on track after a home defeat to Torun. It'll be a tough ask, as ZKZ are a decent team. Elsewhere, Torun should continue their unbeaten run against Gorzow, while Rzeszow should put decent points on the board against Tarnow, although the Swallows will be in good heart, having gained their first victory of the season in the last round - could be interesting down by the Ukrainian border. But the most fascinating clash could be at Wroclaw, where the 2006 champions Atlas really need a good result against the Lions of Czestochowa.

Hi Pretoria - nice to have you here. These meetings haven't been ridden yet - they're on Sunday. But Subedei will post the results above as soon as they're through, so if you check back then you'll find them. Alternatively, on the day of the meeting, sportowefakty will list them on the right-hand side of the page, or you can click on "zuzel" in the tabs.

Well, as always, we'll keep an eye on a few riders of interest to our members in the lower leagues, starting with a couple of Lakeside Hammers who also ride for Bydgoszcz, Jonas Davidsson and Andreas Jonsson, as well as the hapless Bee unSteady, restored to the Polonia side. Bydgoszcz are riding against "whipping boys" Rawicz this afternoon and will be expected to win by a huge margin, even though they are the away side:
2..S Stead..0,0,1 = 1 3..J Davidsson..0,1,0 = 1 5..A Jonsson..1',3,3,3,2' = 12+2
Ht 2..Dym, Okoniewski, Knapp, Stead 4-2 (7-5) Ht 3..Jamrozy, Nowaczyk, Buczkowski, Davidsson 5-1 (12-6) Ht 4..Dym, Sajfutdinov, Jonsson, Pudel [E/F] 3-3 (15-9) Ht 5..Okoniewski, Nowaczyk, Jamrozy, Stead 3-3 (18-12) Ht 6..Buczkowski, Kajzer, Davidsson, Dym 2-4 (20-16) Ht 7..Jonsson, Knapp, Jedrzejewski, Jamrozy 2-4 (22-20) Ht 9..Knapp, Nowaczyk, Buczkowski, Davidsson 5-1 (30-24) Ht 10..Jonsson, Nowaczyk, Jamrozy, Jedrzejewski 3-3 (33-27) Ht 13..Jonsson, Dym, Stead, Knapp 2-4 (37-41) Ht 14..Kajzer, Buczkowski, Sajfutdinov, Jamrozy [F/Ex] 3-3 (40-44) Ht 15..Okoniewski, Jonsson, Dym, Nowaczyk 1-5 (41-49)
And after a scare Bydgoszcz win in Rawicz, but they made awfully hard work of beating Liga I's basement side. And now we're off to Liga II, where Coventry's "cult hero" Stanislaw Burza and Poole's Fredrik Eriksson are in action for Lodz at home against Opole:
11..S Burza..3,1,3,3,2' = 12+1 13..F Eriksson..3,2,3,2',3,3 = 16+1
Ht 3..Burza, Lyngso, Mikolajczak, Pawliczek 4-2 (7-10) Ht 4..Eriksson, Sekula, Dabrowski [Fleger Ex/T], Dilger [E/F] 3-3 (10-13) Ht 5..Mikolajczak, Rembas, Burza, Czechowicz 4-2 (14-15) Ht 6..Pawliczek, Eriksson, Lyngso, Liberski 2-4 (16-19) Ht 8..Eriksson, Czechowicz, Dilger, Rembas 4-2 (23-24) Ht 10..Burza, Sekula, Mikolajczak, Dabrowski 4-2 (28-31) Ht 12..Burza, Eriksson, Czechowicz, Fleger 5-1 (34-37) Ht 13..Eriksson, Sekula, Bager, Rembas 4-2 (38-39) Ht 15..Eriksson, Burza, Sekula, Lyngso 5-1 (44-45)
Not a good start for Lodz, as they're on the wrong end of a 5-0 in Ht 1, as an exclusion and an engine failure mean neither of their riders finish the race.
And we'll stay in Liga II to keep an eye on Miskolc and their couple of Bandits, Adrian Rymel and Norbert Magosi - Miskolc are racing Gniezno at home and should win comfortably:
10..N Magosi..1,0 = 1 12..A Rymel..2,3,3,2',1,2 = 13+1
Ht 2..Jacobsen, Paluch, Magosi, Bajerski 1-5 (2-10) Ht 3..Jablonski, Rymel, Wolbert, Rempala 2-4 (4-14) Ht 5..Rymel, Paluch, Rempala, Jacobsen 4-2 (15-18) Ht 7..Cieslewicz, Bajerski, Musielak, Magosi 2-4 (18-27) Ht 9..Rymel, Bajerski, Jablonski, Wolbert [E/F] 5-1 (24-33) Ht 10..Bjerski, Rymel, Cieslewicz, Eklof 5-1 (29-34) Ht 12..Rempala, Paluch, Rymel, Musielak 4-2 (34-41) Ht 15..Jablonski, Rymel, Szatmari, Cieslewicz 3-3 (44-49)
Or maybe not quite such a comfortable win, as the Magyars are on the wrong end of 5-1 in Ht 1 and Ht 2 and a 4-2 in Ht 3. Not looking good for Miskolc at all. But using Szatmari as a "Joker" in Ht 4 and the ensuing 7-2 gives hope to Miskolc.
And finally we'll keep an eye on a few riders in the Ostrow versus Rybnik meeting, as Lakeside's Joonas Kylmakorpi and Coventry's Chris Harris ride for the home side and Ipswich's Piotr Swiderski rides for Rybnik, who have Antonio Lindback making his debut for them:
11..J Kylmakorpi..3,1,2,2',1 = 9+1 13..C Harris..0,2',3,1',2' = 8+3
2..A Lindback..0,0,T,0 = 0 5..P Swiderski..3,2,3,3,3,2 = 16
Ht 2..Baran, Dryml, Miskowiak, Lindback 3-3 (5-7) Ht 3..Kylmakorpi, Gizatulin, Chromik, Ruud 3-3 (8-10) Ht 4..Swiderski, Gomolski, Mitko, Harris (10-14) Ht 5..Ruud, Baran, Kylmakorpi, Lindback 4-2 (14-16) Ht 6..Gomolski, Harris, Gizatulin, Chromik 5-2 (19-17) Ht 7..Dryml, Swiderski, Miskowiak, Pawlaszczyk 4-2 (23-19) Ht 8..Harris, Gomolski, Baran, [Lindback Ex/T], Pawlaszczyk 5-1 (28-20) Ht 10..Swiderski, Kylmakorpi, Ruud, Mitko 3-3 (34-26) Ht 11..Swiderski, Gomolski, Dryml, Gizatulin 3-3 (37-29) Ht 12..Ruud, Kylmakorpi, Baran, Szymura 5-1 (42-30) Ht 13..Swiderski, Miskowiak, Harris, Lindback 3-3 (45-33) Ht 14..Ruud, Harris, Gizatulin [J], Chromik 5-2 (50-35) Ht 15..Miskowiak, Swiderski, Kylmakorpi, Baran 4-2 (54-37)

And the first action of the day is underway in Rawicz. And not a good start for Polonia, with Russian sensation Emil Sajfutdinov finishing third in Ht 1 (the juniors heat) in a 3-3 and then unSteady continuing his poor Polish run with a last in Ht 2 - you wonder why he bothers if he can't beat Piotr Dym and Grzegorz Knapp?
Edit:
And now Dym beats Jonsson and Sajfutdinov - maybe that's what a short spell in the cruel, crazy town does for you?
Edit I:
And after a couple of last places, unSteady is replaced by Sajfutdinov in Ht 8. That could be the end of unSteady's day in Rawicz - well, would you risk him in another heat if you didn't have to?
Edit II:
And now Jonas Davidsson has been replaced by Sajfutdinov in Ht 11.

This has the makings of being an extraordinary result in Rawicz - Polonia Bydgoszcz are a powerhouse of a side, sitting proudly on top of the Liga I table, while Rawicz are anchored to the bottom. Rawicz's results so far this season show why even after only 9 heats, their score is remarkable:
Ostrow 70 : 21 Rawicz Rawicz 43 : 47 Grudziadz Rybnik 60 : 32 Rawicz Rawicz 40 : 50 Poznan Daugavpils 60 : 32 Rawicz Gdansk 65 : 25 Rawicz
And it looks as if 1-5s in Hts 11 and 12 may have killed off Rawicz's hopes of an extraordinary first win of the season. And Rawicz do lose, but the latest addition to their results is rather respectable:
Rawicz 41 : 49 Bydgoszcz

And the Ekstraliga action gets underway in Torun - but not a good start, as a couple of riders take tumbles on the 1st turn of Ht 1.

Lindback never did get on very well with Polish tracks - he'd have been better chancing his arm over in Britain, where he did have a reasonable record, while he was with the Pirates. But his average is a problem.

And Lindback is replaced by Patryk Pawlaszczyk in Ht 8, after touching the tapes - riding in Poland was the beginning of the end for Lindback's "first" career in the sport and it doesn't look like Poland is being any kinder to him this time around.
