Badger, Leigh scored 5 paid 7 on two occasions this year for us at Foxhall, and 3 paid 4 on the other. He has averaged 4.47 around Ipswich in the last two seasons and has come on a long way since he last rode for you. I think you'll find you have signed a solid, dependable and likeable rider who will pleasantly surprise you. He'll certainly be missed down at the side of the lake. I bet he gets a few guest bookings at Lakeside in 2009 I'm fairly sure the rule which only allows a guest for an absent #1, or a missing reserve is still in place, so sadly Leigh won't be available. It's a shame though.

It's a shame though. If teams are missing two or more riders in 2009 they get the choice of which rider they use R/R and which they use a guest for. I still think its a good bet he will get some guest bookings at Arena

Excited by Darcy's inclusion, untried but undoubted talent I would be too if I were you. I saw him race in a second half at Arlington and he looked very good. I'm also very happy that he is racing for Ipswich because it means Poole haven't got their claws into him yet. As I posted on the BSF I am not so sure Darcy Ward will be allowed to double up. I am pretty sure riders have to have an actual average to do so and not an assessed one.

Kerr has been riding over here for a few seasons and has obtained an average. It's only because he is moving clubs therefore by the laws of the DoE the club he is moving to have to apply for a new work permit hence his average going back to 8.00. All clear as mud I guess but that's my take on it.

You've got me worried now ML, however the statement from the AGM says: 'An Elite League club can utilise one team place to be shared by any two riders contracted to a Premier League team with an average of 8 points or less'[/u] think I need to contact SCB, he's the font of all knowledge Just taken this from the dark side: Just talked to Darcy and he believes he's riding at number 8 for Ipswich next season.

As I understood it the situation for Kerr in 2008 was simple: attain a 7.00 average and the work permit was automatic. He didn't attain it, so he needed to re-apply for a work permit.

They have never quoted the full rules in statements from the AGM before. As I said it's just my understanding of it. think I need to contact SCB, he's the font of all knowledge Yep cos I know nottttthhhiiiinnngggggggggg ;D Just taken this from the dark side: Just talked to Darcy and he believes he's riding at number 8 for Ipswich next season.

I am not doubting your knowledge ML, just usually SCB is the first to spout the rules etc., and he hasn't picked up on this at all. Our forum is now unofficial so we don't get any feed back from the promotion regarding anything we query, so will have to wait and see I suppose, but can you let me know which rule it is please?

Sorry Badge I don't know which rule it is. It was something which I had heard just after the AGM and again from one of our promotion in a general conversation at a Christmas party. Darcy wasn't named in particular, just that doubling up was for riders who had an actual 2008 average and not assessed.
No doubt when Ipswich declare their team to the BSPA for approval all will become clear then one way or another.

Taken from speedwayworldtv:
JAREK Hampel says his decision to re-sign for Ipswich was made because he wants to keep busy throughout 2009. The Polish star returned to Elite League racing last season after a five-year absence, and helped the Witches through to the play-offs, where they were beaten at the semi-final stage. Hampel, however, was banned for the match at Poole after suffering a Polish fixture clash which resulted in him missing a meeting at Foxhall. But he insists he is ready for another demanding season of racing in three major leagues as well as chasing a return to the GP series in 2010 - and he says the Ipswich fans will see an even better rider this year. Hampel said: "I had considered not racing in England this season, but while some riders want less meetings, I want more. "Two or three meetings a week is good for me, even though it can be hard. "Last year I didn't ride well at tracks like Belle Vue, Lakeside and Peterborough because I hadn't been to them for years. "But this year I will be more prepared for them, and that is good."
Good news for us Witches fans ;D
