I really hope they don't spin this and Lewis plays a blinder.
He's well capable of finishing on the podium, even from 10th, but if he doesn't, I really don't want the "ah, but don't forget he had a big off yesterday" shit coming out.

Well, there is already mumblings about the fact he's just getting over flu. It will be interesting for me to see how well he copes with traffic, and not being at the front, and it could make for an excellent race, providing he doesn't get taken out on the first lap.
Today's race is on ITV at 1pm.
Edit: has anyone seen the "anything you can do I can do better" advert with Lewis and Alonso? It's a Mercedes-Benz ad but it's really amusing and shows how much the media have blown the rivalry between them out of proportion.

Nice touch chucking in Hakkinen at the end.

What on earth was Raikkonen doing? I've never, ever seen someone miss the pit lane like that, but it's potentially ruined his race and worked out well for Massa who should have had to queue.
Quote of the day: "There's rain forecast for three minutes time, but I can't see it can you?" ;D

Session currently red flagged after a series of cars aquaplaning off the track. Liuzzi nearly took out both the safety car and the tractor which was going to rescue some of the other five cars who had all gone off in the same place. Hamilton was one of those casualties, but was craned back onto the track - an interesting use of the rule Schumacher exploited whereby he kept the engine running and his car was deemed to be in a dangerous place, so will be allowed to continue. Winklehock will resume in the lead of his first ever GP on his home track.

Clearly the way to make F1 more exciting is to get out the hosepipes and give the track a dousing at random points during the race. ;D

Didn't like it when Schumacher was pushed back onto track and allowed to continue, but this was even worse. Hamilton was put back on the track by a bloody telehandler - ridiculous that he was allowed to continue, but fair play to him for keeping his engine ticking over.

Results:
1..Fernando Alonso 2..Felipe Massa 3..Mark Webber 4..Alex Wurz 5..David Coulthard 6..Nick Heidfeld 7..Robert Kubica 8..Heikki Kovalainen
Hamiton finished 9th, Davidson 12th and Jenson DNF. Great drives from DC and Webber, whilst Kovalainen and Hamilton's tyre gambles (what the hell was that about?) didn't pay off.

Quote of the day: "There's rain forecast for three minutes time, but I can't see it can you?" ;D Brundle's Norfolk nose couldn't smell it either ;D Obviously didn't get his honorary degree for his sense of smell . Fuck that annoys me giving degrees to people who haven't bleeding well worked for them Got nothing at all to do with the sodding essay I'm trying and failing to write at present

So, is that what we want to see? Obviously I don't want anyone to be injured, but it does make things so much more exciting when you don't know how many cars are going to finish. Canada in the wet is one that's always memorable for me, and Spa when DC got in the way of Schumacher, plus Hockenheim when Barrichello won from the back in the rain.

I only watch when there's a chance of rain Schumi. Not to see the crashes but because it's the only time you see passing. It also shows off the skills of the drivers more IMHO.

That’s a fair comment SL and one I’ve made myself in the past. I said when Schumacher left the sport wouldn’t hold the same interest for me, but I’ve been desperately trying to find some positives rather than give up another thing I enjoy. Just I’m not seeing it this season.

That’s a fair comment SL and one I’ve made myself in the past. I said when Schumacher left the sport wouldn’t hold the same interest for me, but I’ve been desperately trying to find some positives rather than give up another thing I enjoy. Just I’m not seeing it this season. Schumi, Strange comments, given that after a slow start, the 2007 season is turning out to be the most interesting for a few years. After coming back from Scunny, watched the highlights late last night. Hugely eventful race. Alonso showed just why he is a double World Champion, with an aggressive and very determined drive - unbelieveable moment when he and Massa baged wheels conesting the lead. And despite he finished out of the points, a spellbinding drive for Hamilton. Everything that could go wrong for him did this weekend, but he just doesn't give up, and finished just a second outside of the points. Everyone says about Schumacher's determination to win, but what about Hamilton keeping the engine running while being taken out of the gravel trap by a great big crane thing!! For moment he race is over, the next thing he's back in!! Who was that who nearly wiped out the safety car? (ah... just seen Schumi's post... Liuzzi) All the best Rob
