And you think winning a sportscar WC is less difficult and makes Brundle less qualified to talk about F1? Did I say that? I stated a fact for anyone who didn't know, that's all. Chill.

In sportscar racing, not F1. And you think winning a sportscar WC is less difficult and makes Brundle less qualified to talk about F1? DK - in F1, it's far more than just driving the car, it's also the other stuff, the press intrusion, battling with your own team-mate for championship, etc as young Lewis Hamilton is finding out. Hill experienced that - Brundle didn't. Brundle is far too conservative - he needs to take a leaf out of James Hunt's book - Hunt said it like it was. That's what the "driver expert" co-commentary role should be all about. Brundle had strong views on Schumacher ("You've hit the wrong part of the car, Michael"), but otherwise is a bit dull. Damon's passionate defence of Jenson Button is something you may or may not agree with - but it was far more interesting than the usual dirge from Brundle.

And yet, with all that experience, Hill turned into a gibbering wreck when they shoved a microphone in his gob. Martin Brundle is a natural, because he was a natural driver (Hill never was) and he is asked to fill a role which he does very well; if you listen to what he says, he's just as controversial as James Hunt was, but he's a bit more subtle, and subtle is what's required by today's audiences.

IMHO Brundle is far superior to what Hill provided in the last race...but that could just be experience. Give Damon a load of races to commentate on and he might well be better. As for the race....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz How dull was that? Full credit to Hamilton for his coolness when things went wrong and for adding some interest to the race but, really, that was one dull race. One thing that did strike me was the particularly depressed look that Kimi had after the race. As they mentioned several times on the commentary, at some point soon Ferrari have to pick a candidate to challenge. I wonder if they maybe told the drivers that the leader into the last 5 races would be the choice! Could Kimi possibly be asked to play shotgun to Massa for the rest of the season?
