The third of this classic series.... ;D...some moaned at the failing of Middlo and fired criticism left and right. So let's identify the problems, the mistakes and how to sort them out.
Personally I felt the Team GB role should be a role undertaken by someone with no other interest, it shouldn't be a double role. It should be a job in which the person is strictly assigned to just Team GB. He should control the Senior Team, the Under 21's, the Under 19's (yes I suggest we have an Under 19 team). He should be there to give support to any Brit abroad when in GP Qualifiers, U21 Qualis etc. - GPs in the bargain as well.
The manager should also keep his eyes firmly planted on the continent and how a rider performs outside of the UK. Anyone with a hint of knowledge about the current Polish scene could predict Kennett would be hopeless in Poland. He struggled all year at Czestochowa.
The manager should be behind the arrangement of various training sessions, what's it take to visit Denmark this time of the year and sort out our woes on a super slick surface.
The manager should boast a professional set-up, no drinking in the city centre (in fact it's a tool worked within reason which can work), getting the younger lads in for the experience at places like Leszno and entertaining an open attitude which doesn't involve sulks when losing.
Most of this person should receive ultimate backing from the BSPA - in the process arrange a couple of Test Matches, Under 21 Internationals etc. etc.
