Wiggy was an inspirational character. But so was Waggy, for a while. Nigel Wagstaff to replace Middlo, that's what I say. You could be right!!!! He wouldn't need to run a business, he's got his heart in speedway, he's English, and he's a bloody good team manager. Sadly, it'll never happen though.

Sub - I bet if I suggested Bruce Cribb to succeed Middlo, you wouldn't mind the fact he rode for Oxford in 1980.

Rob,
We, as British Speedway fans, now that Middlo with has acquiesced to his leaving now require a living breathing replacement to win the SWC for this country.
Its no good going coulda, woulda, etc and bringing up our sadly lost to us icons. Whilst I would never degenerate them the past is the past and we need to look to the future and win this fucking thing and show the rest of the world that British Speedway and its riders are capable of being best in the world.
As a Brit speedway fan, as would a Pole, a Dane, a Swede, An Aussie, An American, I believe that it is possible.

But, realistically, without other changes, whoever comes in is going to struggle. The problem with Middlo was that he was all too willing to be seen as a victim - he was a "yes man" for the BSPA, as far as I was concerned. And far too soft on the riders. What's needed is someone to stand up to the BSPA and tell them the facts of speedway life in the twenty-first century.

I have disagreed with you on this subject before Sube.
What other changes do you want now? You have been given one of your greatest desires that Middlo must go, do you have a better replacement in mind?

You have been given one of your greatest desires that Middlo must go, do you have a better replacement in mind? Hardly one of my greatest desires, young fellow. But, yes, I have been one of Middlo's critics. And I'm not disappointed that he's resigned, although I think he should've been sacked to show that failure isn't acceptable. Peter Oakes seems the obvious choice, although I'd like to see someone with a bit more bite about them - seems to me the riders need someone to fire fucks into them every now and again. And in public, like the Polish manager did after last year's SWC meeting at Vojens.

Damn, I forgot the young fellow asked a question - sorry. What other changes would I want. Well, for a start, I'd be asking the BSPA to allocate more funds to rider development and not just trusting to luck.

On that I totally concur with you Sube.
But now that he has resigned (and you cannot deny Middlo was one of your quests to get rid of) though the question which I feel you are still avoiding who is your recommendation to replace young Middlo that will give us more chance to win this SWC trophy now that he has gone?

Of course I wouldn't and don't deny that I felt Middlo should be removed. Well, I don't think there's much chance of a win, whoever's in charge. But surely a performance better than at Leszno should be possible. I'd go for Rob Lyon, the King's Lynn team manager.

Braveheart has asked me to propose Rob Godfrey, and to be fair, he does have a pretty good record.
