The Barclay building in the background tells us the track is Poole. Of the riders only 1 i think i know & that's probably Mikhail Starostin kneeling down on the right?Jim, have you any idea!

The Barclay building in the background tells us the track is Poole. Barclays is a truly evil entity.

Yes it was at Poole and it was in 1990. That meeting took place on Tuesday 24th April and Poole defeated the Soviet Union 59-37. The Soviet Union did a tour of Division Two tracks and lost the series 4-1 with their lone win coming at Newcastle. The meeting at Poole was the second in the series, and the CCCP team sccorers were as follows:- Vladimir Trofimov 12+1 from 5 Igor Marko 1+1 from 5 Mikhail Starostin 1+1 from 5 Nikolai Kornev 1+1 from 4 Igor Zverev 9 from 6 Grigori Harchenko 9 from 6 Viktor Gaidym 4+1 from 4 As to who's who in the pic, I haven't got a scooby.

I'll sort out a better one tomorrow but I thought this one might suffice until then. I know where and roughly when but again, I am not sure who the riders are.. I know I'm a tad late jumping in on this one but I thought the race leader was Phil Collins...............

Race leader looks like Electric Eric to me! If it is he and he's riding at #5 that puts the picture from 81 or 82, after Penhall left he moved to #1.
Obviously I'm talking about the picture quoted in the previous post.

I took the photo around 1979/80. I have other shots of Phil Collins around this period and he was using a 'Monkey Mask' and jet style helmet and not a full face helmet. He also looks a bit 'chunkier' than the young fellow in this shot and nothing like the same style which I am still convinced is Erik Gundersen.

And I grew up watching Cradley every week.

The leathers look like Erik's of the time and I have seen pictures of him from 79 with the number 5 jacket on, so it looks likely. The only doubt I have is that the pictures I have seen from that time of Erik seem to have his name written down the arm of his leathers which these don't have - maybe just a new set for later in the season though.
