Didn't he end up on the wrong side of the law for some reason or another? I agree, a super name. And of course he figured in the celebrated "Biggs Final".

Yeah he did sub something with Gold bars/vat etc. He did some stir for it. He now is retired and living in Spain. They got him over a few years ago for the Vintage Speedway Riders dinner as the guest of Honour but when he was asked to make a speech he just said 'Thanks'. Everyone it seems was totally pissed with that. I sort of knew him and Avril back in the 60's and looked after his bike in the pits for Ken Brett for few years but I have not seen or spoke to him since. (Me being me ;D I can dig up a couple of pictures of me sitting on his bike in a day or so if anyone is really interested... : Saw him beat the great Fundin 3 times at New Cross one night so he was quite capable if he wanted to be as rider..

Split did turn out at the new Spanish track for the grand opening.Although that was just publicity and not a meeting i think.
