Joining the already signed Jason Bunyan, Cory Gathercole, James Holder, Glenn Phillips and Krzysztof Stojanowski for next season will be Paul Fry.
Just leaves a reserve to be announced for the last place methinks.

The reserve rider was named at the same time as Paul Fry, and it's Andrew Bargh.

Unless Holder junior hits the ground running and Gathercole puts a couple of points on his average , then i think 2008 will be a backward step for the Islanders . Bunyan is a capable enough 8 point man , but Stojanowski and Philips are ok on the Island and distinctly average away from home . Nope not one of the contenders .

In fairness, short of talking Tony Rickardsson out of retirement, there's not much they can do to replace a rider of Chris Holder's ability though, is there?

True , but there's a hint of the same old faces in the Isle of Wight ranks . Wonder how many PL teams will be thinking again now that Craig Watson is back on the shelf .

Wouldn't have gone with Phillips again if I was the Isle of Wight promotion. Didn't impress me too much in 2007.

IOW press release:
It has been revealed this week that Wightlink Islander Chris Johnson, badly injured in a horrendous crash at King's Lynn towards the end of last season, may have to undergo further surgery which, if it proves necessary, will prove to be something of a setback on his long road to recovery.
Specialists at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital in charge of his case will decide if a further operation will have to be carried out when he returns for his next appointment with them on Tuesday of next week.
If such action proves necessary, they have explained to Chris and his family that they will take some bone from his hip and graft it to the breaks in his thigh bone.
"Naturally we are hoping that it won't be necessary," said his mum Pam, "but we'll find out one way or the other when we go to the hospital next week."
Meanwhile, in between physiotherapy sessions, Chris is resting up at his Hampshire home although his mum admitted that he's not proving to be be the best of patients!
"We were warned from the outset that the recovery road would be a long one," she said, "but we all know that injured speedway riders don't make very good patients don't we?!"
