I'm a wee bitty nervous about this one as traditionally the Comics usually do quite well round Ashfield's hallowed shale . I know Crapanese and Branney are doubtful , but in Stoney , James Wright and Kauko they have a trio of heat-leaders who are a match for anyone . And if both those injured riders don't make it - the Comics have Somerset's Simon Walker lined up and he goes ok round Ashfield too . So the messiah , Wato and the rest will need to be at the top of their game to see of the visitors from Barbaria in what should be another Ashfield Festival of Speedway . ;D

Cant see this one being much of a problem for Glasgow other than the top 3 Workington are pretty poor, and none of the bottom end have a great Ashfield record, looking forward to seeing young Charles Wright as i havent seen him before, but i would have to say I can only see an easy Glasgow victory with Stoney being a shaddow of his former Ashfield self.

Wright junior performed with some promise on his Ashfield debut in the challenge match in April . Could certainly see him troubling our reserve duo . And i wish i shared your optimism about the Tigers for Sunday cause Workington always go well round ourplace .

I can't see Workington having enough to get close enough for even the bonus point. They've got Simon Walker, the Somerset reserve, riding at number 2 and he'll probably need to take five rides (one as a R/R ride). He has ridden at Ashfield twice this season and scored 3 points in each match. His Ashfield average is 3.5 so it doesn't look like much back up will come from this source. I can't remember seeing that Charles Wright or John Branney have ever ridden at Ashfield. If they have I can't find any record of it. So where exactly will the Comets find any support for their top three? Could this be the day when Michael Coles and Lee Dicken finally up their averages a little? Will Ksiezak have a field day taking points off the bottom three? Will McAllan complete four races? All will be revealed. My prediction: Slash Moggies 51 Comics 39.

Charles Wright rode for the Comics at Ashfield in the early season challenge match , and shaped with a modicum of promise . He could well have the measure of our two dumplings in Ht2 . John Branney actually rode for Berwick in place of Stan Burza last season at Ashfield , but not expecting him to score today . You're a bit hard on Simon Walker as on both his visits this year he has rode better than his finishing score suggests .

Glasgow 49 Workington 42 Made heavy weather of it again at home against a Workington side , hampered by the loss of reserve Charles Wright injured in a scary looking brush with the first bend safety fence in Ht 2 . The big three for the Comets kept them in touch , but naturally they were no match for " the messiah ". Glasgow - Parker 15 max , Watson 9 , Leverington 6 , Dicken 6 , McAllan 5 , Coles 3 Workington - Nieminen 14 , Stonehewer 12 , J Wright 9 , Walker 6 , J Branney 1 , Haigh ( number 8 ) 0 , C Wright 0 withdrawn .
