BIRMINGHAM have completed their 2016 side with the signing of Danyon Hume.
The 19-year-old has become the final rider to put pen to paper with the Brummies as they aim to successfully defend their National League crown.
Hume’s signature means that the 2016 Birmingham Brummies will be the youngest ever line-up in British Speedway history and team manager Graham Drury is delighted to have captured the Buckinghamshire based racer.
“It’s great to have our full team for the forthcoming season known and the addition of Danyon is exciting for so many reasons,” said Drury.
“The lad is such a tryer, he never gives up and the way he progressed towards the back end of last season especially fills me with great hope.
“His attitude is spot on and I know he’s going to go down well with the Birmingham supporters.
“I have to say a huge thank you to both Chris Louis and Danny King at Danyon’s new parent club Ipswich – they have been a pleasure to deal with, they were both extra keen for us to be the team he signed for on loan and they have both been instrumental in this signing.
“We’ll be entering the record books once again when the tapes go up in March and I’m really excited for the year we’ve got in store once again.”
Hume has spoken highly of his new club and is thrilled to be joining a ‘brilliant team of riders’.
Said Hume: “My plans for this year have been changed but everything has worked out so well in the end and I can’t wait to ride for Birmingham.
“They’re one of the bigger clubs in the National League and everything about them is so professional.
“The team Birmingham have put together this year looks brilliant on paper; I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team for the first time and then it’s down to us to go out there and give it everything we’ve got every meeting.”

From the Birmingham Speedway website:: ::::: birmingham speedway forum BIRMINGHAM are the 2016 National Trophy Champions after an impressive 47-43 win at Kent.
The Surestop Brummies pulled off the same score line as last Wednesday's home leg to wrap up a 94-86 aggregate victory.
It was another determined performance from the Perry Barr outfit who extended their unbeaten streak to 16 meetings.
Team manager Graham Drury admits he is immensely proud of his side and says it's just a further warning to their National League rivals.
Said Drury: "I had people telling me how dominant Kent were at home and that a four point advantage wouldn't be enough, but tonight the lads proved those people wrong!"
"Every single one of our boys came here and gave it 100 per cent and they showed a true battling spirit.
"We've seen two impulsive speedway meetings and both sets of riders deserve plenty of credit for providing another excellent advert for the National League.
"We'll enjoy this moment and then we start focusing on the Knockout Cup next week and of course defending our league title!"
Zach Wajtknecht top scored for the Brummies for a second successive meeting as the 18-year-old continued his return to form.
Jack Smith bounced back from an exclusion in his first outing to pick up nine points from four rides on another sensational showing from the teen reserve.
Tom Bacon and Danyon Hume picked up one race win apiece on solid nights for the middle order duo while Tom Perry and Darryl Ritchings chipped in with vital contributions also.
Jack Parkinson-Blackburn had one of his toughest nights of the season but will have learnt plenty on his first league meeting at Central Park.
The Brummies will be looking for three more National League points when they host Mildenhall at Perry Barr on Wednesday.
NATIONAL TROPHY FINAL 2nd leg KENT 43: Danny Ayres 15, James Shanes 12, David Mason 4+1, Jack Thomas 4, Dan Greenwood 3, Danno Verge 3, Luke Clifton 2.
BIRMINGHAM 47: Zach Wajtknecht 11+1, Jack Smith 9+1, Tom Bacon 7+1, Danyon Hume 7+1, Tom Perry 6+1, Darryl Ritchings 5+3, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn 2.

www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.31185 A LOOK ahead to Wednesday's National League action at Birningham with team news and pre-match comments from the clubs where available.
BIRMINGHAM wrap up their regular National League home fixtures when they take on the Isle of Wight at Perry Barr on Wednesday.
The Brummies secured their place in the end of season play offs with a 53-37 win away at the Warriors last week- but boss Graham Drury says it's important his team don't take their foot off the gas as they now try and guarantee themselves first choice of opposition by finishing top of the table.
The home side bring in Mitchell Davey to guest for the injured Zach Wajtknecht, and will make a late decision on Jack Parkinson-Blackburn who has been struggling with illness.
Drury said: “Jack is going to ring me first thing on Wednesday and we will make a decision between us then depending on how he feels.
“As for Mitchell, he really impressed me when he came here with Coventry the other week and was only denied a full maximum when his engine blew in one ride.
“I'm sure he'll do an outstanding job for us on Wednesday and if he does then we might just keep him in mind when booking our guest for our big Knockout Cup clash against Kent next week.”Attachments:

From the SGB website:: :::: BIRMINGHAM are aiming for a clean sweep of National League team honours when they travel to Eastbourne in the KO Cup Final on Sunday.
The Brummies, who overcame the Eagles to win the league title at Perry Barr four days ago, defend a narrow six-point advantage at Arlington in the last speedway meeting of the season in the UK, with the home side looking to complete a successful defence of the silverware.
Birmingham manager Graham Drury said: “The lads are still bubbling from Wednesday night and they're going to Eastbourne on a real high.”
“Nothing will phase them on Sunday and they'll be keen to put in an improved showing from last Sunday's trip there.”
“However, Eastbourne will be fired up I'm sure and we'll have to be on top of our game if we are to seal our third major trophy of the year.”

This is now on the SGB website: http://www.speedwayg...hp?extend.31542 Here is the transcript:
BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury was left fuming after his side rode the second leg of the National League KO Cup Final with no rider at No.1.
The Brummies’ planned guest, James Shanes, was deemed ineligible in the build-up to Sunday’s meeting at Eastbourne under the 8-day rule as he had also appeared for the visitors at the same venue the previous week.
Drury said: “It’s unfortunate that we’re ending the season on such a controversial matter and that we’re not talking about what a classic cup tie that should and would have been.
“It’s not for me to cast any aspersions on anybody why it was left so late to be brought up and objections raised, but it just seems very strange how standard regulations and procedures haven’t been followed in this instance.
“Eastbourne should have raised any problems or queries when I sent them our team earlier in the week and the referee certainly should have given us prior notice if he didn’t think James Shanes was an eligible guest.”
Eastbourne chairman Martin Dugard said: “We didn’t know anything about it. We were quite happy for it to go ahead. The inkling we got was that all of a sudden, James Shanes was not allowed to ride.
“Eastbourne did not protest. I have to say it was lucky for us on the night and I have to say I think Birmingham were treated quite harshly for what they did.”
