STOKE Potters are delighted to welcome back Chris Widman for a third successive season which sees’ the Potters complete their top five for the new season.
The popular Leicestershire based rider commented “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back at Stoke for a third season and cannot wait for the season to commence.
“It was a difficult season for me last year due to my illness and that’s now all behind me. I’ve been doing some intense training over the past few weeks and working hard doing some runs. I have also invested heavily in machinery for the new year also and cannot wait to actually get on the bike, but the weather has intervened so far. I’ve got a holiday coming up and will be using it for some training in warm whether as it’s not currently the best here and when I get back will be looking to get some track time in as soon as I possibly can.
“I feel the team is looking good with Ben (Wilson) returning as I’ve known him since we were both learning at the Sheffield training track. I had a good understanding with Ben back in 2014 and I’m really pleased that the rules have changed slightly which allows hom to double up and be with the club for the season. We then have Tony (Atkin) and that gives us a solid top two and with Danny (Phillips) and Shaun (Tedham) we are all capable of improving as is young Ryan (MacDonald) who will have learned so much anout himself last year and he showed the right attitude and I feel he is capable of coming on this year and I believe Dave (Tattum) and Malcolm (Vasey) have put a very good team together for the new season.
“I’ve made a lot of fiends at Stoke over the past two seasons and really enjoy racing there and with the improvements being done we will have a cracking race strip to ride on this year and I’m really looking forward to a good season with the Potters.”
Potters promoter Dave Tattum said “I’d like to thank Buster Chapman for his help in resolving things and we are delighted to welcome Chris back for a third season. Chris always gives his best and is a delght to work with.
“We now look to complete the side as quickly as possible and have a few riders we are currently speaking to for the last place and hopefully we can announce something sooner rather than later.”Attachments:

From the SGB website:: :::::::::: STOKE have made a double change with Ben Hopwood and Paul Burnett joining the Potters in place of Chris Widman and Ryan MacDonald.
Club bosses Dave Tattum and Malcolm Vasey have acted after seeing their side slip to seven successive defeats in all competitions at the start of the National League season, and the new men will be in the side for the home KO Cup clash with Belle Vue on Saturday subject to BSPA approval.
Vasey said: “Ben (pictured) and Paul have both ridden for us before and we hope that they can repeat past performances.
“It is so difficult to strengthen a team in the National League at this point of the season and we are grateful to Steve Jensen at Rye House for facilitating our use of Ben.
“We hope that our supporters will realise that we have moved swiftly to try and improve the team and really get behind us this coming weekend with two local derby matches.”Attachments:

From the SGB website:
STOKE have commenced their 2017 team-building with the signings of experienced duo Tony Atkin and Luke Priest.
Current skipper Atkin is back in the Potters’ line-up whilst former club captain Priest rejoins the Loomer Road club having most recently ridden for Rye House.
Stoke boss Malcolm Vasey said: “Tony’s influence with the other riders and his experience and know-how make him a great person to have around and we are very pleased to have him back with us.
“Luke has pushed his average up to 8.33 and is an extremely accomplished performer at this level. He is a rider who, although owned by Sheffield, has had previous spells at Stoke always producing some good results.”

From the SGB website: ::: STOKE have made David Wallinger their third signing for the 2017 National League season.
Wallinger, who is set to line up at reserve for the Potters, made a return to the sport for a spell with Buxton this year.
Promoter Dave Tattum said: “We are delighted to have secured David’s signature for next season after fighting off several clubs who also wanted his services in 2017.

From the SGB website: ::: STOKE have moved to sign Mitchell Davey as their new No.1 for the 2017 National League campaign.
The 26-year-old made a successful return to racing with Coventry Storm this year and is also set to line up for Edinburgh in the SGB Championship next season.
Potters boss Malcolm Vasey said: “This is a brilliant capture for Stoke and gives us a very competitive line-up.
“With our top three of Mitchell, Luke (Priest) and Tony (Atkin) combined with the high-impact reserve which we believe David Wallinger will be, the team is now coming together very well and there is no reason why we cannot be a force in the National League in 2017.”Attachments:

From the SGB website:: ::::
SHAUN Tedham is the sixth member of Stoke’s 2017 National League team - leaving just one place remaining for the new campaign.
Tedham first rode for the Potters in 2013 before taking the following season out, returning to take his place in the side in over the past two seasons.
Manager Malcolm Vasey: “Shaun is the life and soul of the party off the track and we are looking for him to become the life and soul of the party on the track.
