Somerset's Bradley Wilson-Dean finished 2nd in the New Zealand Championship held at Rosebank, Auckland earlier today.
Bradley messaged the cub to say that he qualified for the Final but missed the gate in the Final itself. Despite this, he moved through from last to 2nd place but could not find a way past Jason Bunyan who won the meeting, and with it the New Zealand Championship crown.
Bradley said afterwards; "The track was very slick and dusty, but no excuses, and overall I'm happy enough with 2nd place. I felt really good on the bike though and can't wait for the UK season to start, I'm sure that we're going to have a good one!"

On SGB website: - GREENWOOD JOINS REBELS
FRIDAY JUNE 26, 2015
SOMERSET have announced the signing of Oliver Greenwood following his recent release from Premier League rivals Peterborough.
Greenwood had in fact been due to join the Rebels at the start of the season only for those plans to change due to work commitments, but he now comes into the Oaktree Arena side in place of Benji Compton.
Manager Garry May said: “Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it just hasn’t happened for Benji since he joined us at the start of the season and it has put more pressure on Paul Starke, our other reserve, to come up with big points match after match, and whilst Paul has been superb in this respect, we could not keep relying on him to do this for us.
“Ironically Ollie was in my original Somerset 1-7 for this season but a change with his employers and his working hours meant that he could not take up his team place with us, but this is now no longer such an issue, and so I jumped at the chance to sign Ollie once I knew that he was available.”

Friday, June 26, 2015: Meanwhile Somerset stage a challenge fixture between an Exeter Select side and Cradley, with the Falcons - who have been without a home for the last decade - having previously staged events after the Rebels’ main meetings this season.
Exeter’s Alan Spencer said: “We are really excited about this match and would like to thank the Somerset promotion for their support and assistance they have given us this year by allowing an Exeter side to run a number of second half events at the Oaktree Arena.
“Interest really seems to have taken a hold as far as Friday’s match against Cradley is concerned, so we are hoping for a good number of Falcons fans to make the trip up the M5 to see a full Exeter team finally take to the track again.”
Cradley co-promoter Gary Patchett said: “It promises to be an entertaining meeting supporting a very worthy cause. We can only hope that the outcome for Exeter is the same as it was for us!”

FROM THE CLUB WEBSITE: REBELS LAUNCH NEW CLUB LOGO
Tuesday January 19, 2016
The ‘Cases’ Somerset Rebels will go into the new 2016 season sporting a new team logo which will be more representative of the club’s Somerset roots.
Since the club's formation in 2000, the team logo has been the Confederate flag under which the Southern States fought in the American Civil War, but club promoter Debbie Hancock feels that the club logo needs to reflect its home county of Somerset as she explains;
“Even though we are now some 16 years on since the club was first formed, people still ask what the Confederate flag has to do with Somerset, especially as the nickname Rebels was adopted to commemorate the Rebel uprising at the Battle of Sedgemoor.”
“In addition, we felt that given certain tragic events which took place in America last year, it would be insensitive of us to continue using the Confederate Flag as the club logo and, as such, we wanted something which would be more reflective of the County of Somerset and felt that nothing does that more than the mythical Wyvern, which is the Somerset County emblem.”
“Within that, we are still retaining our traditional red, white and blue colours and the Rebels nickname, but it was felt that a change of logo was probably overdue and 2016 will see the team take to the track sporting our new Wyvern body-colours.”Attachments:
