WEDNESDAY JUNE 24, 2015
A LOOK forward to Wednesday's meeting at Peterborough with preview comments from the clubs where available.
PETERBOROUGH reserve Simon Lambert has been declared fit to race in Wednesday’s Premier League showdown with Glasgow at the Showground.
Lambert was hurt at Newcastle ten days ago but makes his return against the Tigers, with Brady Kurtz standing in for long-term injury victim Olly Allen at No.1 for the Panthers.
And home co-promoter Ged Rathbone has praised his club’s opponents ahead of the televised clash, with Glasgow having undergone a winter transformation both on and off track.
Rathbone said: “It is brilliant for speedway to have people like the Facenna brothers involved. The sport could certainly do with more. I haven’t made it up to Glasgow myself yet this season, but I speak to Aaron Summers regularly and have heard nothing but good things from him.
“There has been massive investment in the stadium and the club as a whole and they have also put together a really strong team. I’ve got nothing but admiration for the work that has been done at Glasgow, but I’m also hugely proud of what we have achieved here at Peterborough.”
Glasgow star Richard Lawson said: “We are all pretty fired up for it. David Howe used to race there, I know Nick Morris likes it and obviously I rode there for a couple of seasons. We should do well there.
“They are a strong side, especially at home, so it will be very tough but we stand a really good chance and we're all up for it.”

RICHIE Worrall has spoken of positive vibes in the Glasgow camp ahead of the Ashfield season-opener on Sunday.
Worrall has made the move from Somerset to join the Tigers in the Premier League, with their first outing as a team coming in an inter-league challenge against Coventry this weekend.
He said: “We're all going for that No.1 jacket. We are a top-heavy team, but looking back at the way Edinburgh have done it in the last few years, they've always had a good top four that have gone and got the double-figures. That confidence is bound to help the other lads.
“I really do like the way Stewart Dickson works as team manager - he was a big attraction. He wants to win as much as we do. He's passionate about his team, passionate about his job, and passionate about winning.” Attachments:

GLASGOW star Richard Lawson says his side are “massively determined” to book a Premier League Grand Final clash with Somerset.
The Ashfield men lost out to the Rebels in the League Cup Final and now face Sheffield in their play-off semi, with the first leg on home territory on Sunday.
The visitors overcame Newcastle in the quarter-finals when they were underdogs, and are targeting another upset with Ricky Wells and Theo Pijper named as guests.
Lawson said: “Obviously we want to win all the trophies, but the League Cup is gone now.
“We need to forget about it and use it to get us fired up. We're still in for a shout with the other two and hopefully we can turn things around.
“It would be great to see everyone there and I'm sure all seven of us are massively determined to put this right, take it to the next stage and get into the play-off final.”
Sheffield co-promoter Peter Mole said: “The Glasgow meeting is going to be very hard because they are a tough team at their home place.
“They’ve not lost many meetings there, I think they’ve only been beaten by Somerset, so we know how difficult it will be.
“We’ll just be going to keep the scores as close as possible and give ourselves the best chance to get through in the home leg.”

From the SGB website: ::: GLASGOW have made Richie Worrall their third signing for 2017 - reuniting the same heat-leader trio that they ended with in 2016.
Worrall, who was one of the stars of last summer, joins Richard Lawson and Aaron Summers at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium for the SGB Championship campaign
The Englishman upped his average from 6.84 to 8.49 in Tigers colours last season, and had always insisted he wanted to return for a second term next year.
It means that Stewart Dickson is left with just under 15 points to complete his 2017 line-up.Attachments:

From the SGB website: ::::
GLASGOW have moved to sign exciting British talent Jack Smith as one of their reserves for 2017 - adding him to their growing asset base.
The 17-year-old, who has just capped off his first season in speedway with a National League title at Birmingham, joins the Tigers on a two-point average.
Smith said: “I've achieved a fair bit in my short career so far, but to sign for such a big club as Glasgow and as an asset, it's definitely a moment I will never forget.
“When the club invited me and dad up for a look around towards the end of the season, we were really impressed with how they run the speedway in Glasgow and Scotland.
“It also shows with how many top riders want to be at the club. Everything attracted me to wanting to be a part of their 2017 campaign.”

From the SGB website: :::: GLASGOW have handed Tom Perry a reserve position for the 2017 season as he becomes the Tigers’ fifth signing.
Perry will link up with his 2016 Birmingham team-mate Jack Smith at Ashfield after having Premier League spells with Peterborough and Berwick this year.
Perry said: “The last three years have been going really well but I've got hurt one way or another and it's knocked me back. Hopefully that won't happen next year - I just want to push on and look at doing full-time Championship and Premiership in 2018.
“If I have a good year in the Championship, hopefully the Tigers will stay with me. I want to push into the main body this year and try to stay with them the year after as well.
“I did a couple of guest bookings for Glasgow a few years back and I've had pretty decent meetings there, and I like the track. When I had the call I was really pleased because they're probably the biggest club in the Championship.”

From the SGB website: GLASGOW have completed their SGB Championship line-up with the signings of rising stars Dan Bewley and Nike Lunna.
Bewley, 17, joins the Tigers after an impressive debut campaign with local rivals Edinburgh, whilst 20-year-old Finnish rider Lunna is back for a second season at Ashfield.
Bewley said: “I knew early on that I wanted to be there, especially with potentially riding a Friday night in the National League - I needed somewhere else other than Edinburgh to ride.
“I didn't do very well in my first meeting at Glasgow but in my last one I really liked the track and did quite well. Switching from Edinburgh to Glasgow is a bit unusual, but hopefully it goes well.”
Lunna added: “I'm super-happy to be back with the Tigers. I love to be there and this coming year I have so much more to give, as I know the track and my team-mates.”Attachments:

From the SB website: GLASGOW are to stage the 2017 Ben Fund Bonanza on Sunday March 12. The ninth staging of the now-traditional curtain raiser to the new season which raises funds for injured riders heads to the Ashfield venue with a 2pm start-time. Tigers co-promoter Alan Dick said: “I’m very pleased and it’s an amazing start to the season, added to the fact that we have been awarded the Riders’ Championship for our league. “Two fairly glamorous meetings, one to commence and one near the end, which is very nice to have been asked. We were delighted to accept. “In terms of what the Facennas have done to the facilities at the stadium, what is on offer now is markedly improved on the days when Stewart Dickson and I were merely tenants. “The Facennas now own the entire complex including the football club. It makes it easier and it’s one of the reasons why we’ve got the meeting. We’ll be set to go on March 12.” Attachments:
