NORTH NO-GO ROCKS ROBINS
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2016
SWINDON have been dealt a blow ahead of the new season with the news Dakota North will not be riding in Europe in 2016.
The Australian racer was snapped up by the Robins in early December to complete their side, but he has informed the club he will be staying in his homeland when the Elite League campaign gets underway after his father suffered a setback in his recovery from a work accident.
Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: “I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was that his Dad went into work on his crutches, had a fall and did himself quite a bit of damage.
“After that I think Dak just thought it would be too difficult to come across to Europe, and even though his Dad told him he should go he just didn’t feel he’d be in the right frame of mind.
“I understand his decision, and whilst it’s a little bit frustrating because we were looking forward to bringing Dak back to Swindon we wish him and his family all the best.”Attachments:

On the Swindon ebsite:: ::::::: ROBINS TURN TO TUNGATE
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2016
SWINDON have moved quickly to snap up Rohan Tungate to fill the void left by Dakota North ahead of the 2016 campaign.
The Ipswich asset, who gained Elite League experience with Poole in 2013, comes under the recommendation of former World Champion Jason Crump.
Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: “Rohan was in my plans at the start of the year, he was somebody he looked at closely but we decided to go a different way because we had a few more points to play with.
“We spoke two or three times over the winter and he was always somebody in the back of my mind, so when we knew Dak wouldn’t be coming I knew he was who I wanted to speak to.
“I think he’s shown in the winter that’s he’s kicked on, and I think he needs to now take that next step up and we hope he can do that.

From the SGB website: :::::::::: SWINDON returned to the top of the Elite League table with a hard-fought 55-38 win over King’s Lynn at the Abbey on Thursday.
Justin Sedgmen became the latest rider to make a big impression at reserve with a six-ride paid maximum for the Robins, whose margin of victory was increased by a strong end to the meeting.
The Stars only trailed by three points after Niels-Kristian Iversen and Mads Korneliussen collected an 8-1 in Heat 10, but the home side took the final five races by a 22-8 margin.
Swindon’s Rohan Tungate crashed out of the meeting in his third ride, whilst King’s Lynn’s Robert Lambert was unable to take the re-start of Heat 14 after another fall.
Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: “We knew they would come at us early-doors, but I always felt we would be stronger towards the end of the meeting and that’s how it turned out.
“It was tough early on, I was a bit surprised with a couple of the decisions which I thought were a bit harsh, but hopefully Rohan and Robert are okay. Rohan has hurt his shoulder, I don’t know how bad it is but he’s pretty sore.”
Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “There were 5-1s backwards and forwards early on, but the track got progressively worse as the night went on and it was a disappointing end after a bright start.
“Fortunately I think Robert is pretty much okay, but he’s tweaked his groin and we won’t really know too much until Friday.”

From the SGB website: BRITISH youngster Adam Ellis has been handed an SGB Premiership place with Swindon.
The move ends fears he would be frozen out of the top flight due to his 7.84 average after a strong season with Poole in 2016, and Robins boss Alun Rossiter is delighted to show faith in him.
Rossiter said: “I’m backing Adam because he deserves a chance to race in the Premiership. He impressed me at the Elite League Riders’ Championship when he beat Niels-Kristian Iversen and his attitude is superb.
“I know the signing will raise a few eyebrows, but before anyone has a pop look at the positives – he’s a very classy rider and I feel he will enjoy riding in the same team as Jason Doyle.
“With my Great Britain manager hat on too, this has to be good news.”

From the SGB website::: :::::: NICK Morris has agreed a new deal to stay with Swindon for the 2017 season.
Morris has been backed to bounce back from an inconsistent year by Robins boss Alun Rossiter.
And the rider himself said an Abbey Stadium return was always his first choice.
“Everything about it makes sense for me,” he said. “I am based in Swindon, it’s also where my workshop facility is and it’s very much a second home to me.
“The new stadium is also an exciting development and I’m really pleased to be staying. Hopefully I can have more time on the bike next year and have a good one.”
Rossiter said: “I’m a fan of Nick, we know what he’s capable of but it was a hard year for him this year.
“He’s the kind of rider who can improve his average and I’m pleased to have him back with us for 2017.”
Morris joins Jason Doyle and new signings David Bellego and Adam Ellis in the Robins team for the SGB Premiership.

From the SGB website: ::::::
SWINDON have just one place remaining in their side for 2017 after capturing exciting youngsters Emil Grondal and Zach Wajtknecht.
21-year-old Dane Grondal made his bow in British racing in 2015 with Peterborough and has made steady progress since his arrival.
Meanwhile 18-year-old Wajtknecht, from Bristol, is also heading into his third season on the shale after picking up invaluable experience with Somerset last year and is a back-to-back National League Champion with Birmingham.
Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: "Both of these signings really excite me and they're two riders who are only going to get better week by week I feel.
"They're both young but they're both very keen and eager to learn and progress and they have both got some real good amounts of potential.
"They also present themselves very professionally and after speaking to them about the equipment they'll be running I was even more encouraged and impressed.
"They both come on high recommendations; Bjarne Pedersen speaks very highly of Emil and Adam Ellis, who rode with Zach at Birmingham, has only got good words to say about Wajtknecht too.
"Zach is a rider we'd looked at previously and with a lot of like-for-like riders at reserve in other teams, he's got a chance to show everyone what he can do this year.
"With the right people around them, these pair could be two real trump cards for us on relatively low averages and we feel that they are good additions to our line-up.
"The jigsaw is almost complete now and we're just waiting on a few things before we finalise our last rider.
Grondal and Wajtknecht join Jason Doyle, Nick Morris, Adam Ellis and David Bellego in the 2017 side.Attachments:

From the SGB website: ::: SWINDON have swooped to sign talented Danish youngster Mikkel B Andersen.
Andersen was on the radar of rivals Premiership clubs after alerting them to his availability following his apprenticeship in his home country.
Danish team boss Hans Nielsen, the legendary former rider, rates him highly and Robins boss Alun Rossiter is delighted to give him his chance.
“Both Hans Nielsen and our former skipper Hans Andersen speak highly of him,” he said.
“We’re pleased to welcome him to Swindon, he’s another fresh face to the side who I expect to improve as the season goes on.
“We get him as a club asset, too, so I’m pleased to have him on board for a number of reasons.”
Andersen said: “My number one aim from the end of last season was to find a club.
“Having just finished my apprenticeship I feel the time is right to turn professional.
“I’m looking forward to the travelling and showing people what I can do!”

From the SB website: :::: SWINDON have signed talented Kiwi Bradley Wilson-Dean in a dramatic team change.
The Abbey Stadium side have been forced to scrap plans to bring in Danish youngster Mikkel B Andersen because his assessed average was higher than club officials expected and took the team over the points limit.
Wilson-Dean says he can’t wait for the season to start now he’s got his wish of a top flight team place as well as doubling-up with SGB Championship club Peterborough.
“I’m stoked to be given this opportunity at Swindon,” he said. “I was disappointed not to be back at Somerset but I know speedway is a numbers game. It went against me at Somerset but I guess it’s in my favour now at Swindon.
“I like the place having ridden there towards the end of the season. I think it’s the right move for me and doubling up with Peterborough will be perfect and it means I will have more time on the bike.”
