Ayrton Senna: March 21st 1960 - May 1st 1994. Can't quite believe it's 17 years ago today that the world lost the Ayrton Senna just 24 hours after the equally untimely death of Roland Ratzenberger. It's true that it was one of those days you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing. We at Coventry watching the British Final when we heard there had been a major crash at Imola involving Senna, but were on our way home when we heard the news of his death confirmed. It was a long, quiet journey home after that. There are some fantastic action and tribute videos of Senna on you tube, and I'll admit that watching a few of them this afternoon has brought a tear to my eye. RIP Ayrton Senna - never forgoten

It seemed unbelievable that someone as good as Senna - probably the best F1 driver of all-time - could be killed in an accident. There were rumours sweeping around Coventry, and I couldn't quite believe them. The following day Jimmy White was beaten 18-17 to Stephen Hendry after probably the highest-standard Snooker World Final of all-time.
