That certainly looks like a fairly solid display from the Hammers against what looks like a PL select team with Scott Nicholls thrown in for good measure.

A solid display from the Hammers on a nippy old night at the Arena. Nemo ruined his paid max in Heat 15 but he was off Gate 4 which had produced nothing all night. Rob Mear's score doesn't do the kid's effort justice. He worked hard all night and got nowhere. Kyle had a decent start, and will only get better as he becomes more familiar with the track. Peter was worth the entrance money alone with his hanging off the back of it style, and Rico was class as usual It was nice to see Adam with a smile back on his face, and enjoying his racing. Bridger was a good guest, and I have to say the lad seems to have matured somewhat over the Winter. As for the Robins, well, not much to say really. Sedgy looked class all night, and it was no surprise when Ronnie chose to put him out in Heat 13 after Nicholls touched the tapes. Nicholls was comprehensively beaten by Rico all night, and I have to say, it didn't look like his heart was in it to me. Maybe he was using the meeting as a test session, as most of our guys were, but to me, he just doesn't have the swagger he's had in years past, and that's evident in his racing. Gracjzonek was lucky to escape unhurt after a nasty tumble when he hit the dirt line and reared up. The new silencers really don't like it when you move out, which meant we had very little round the boards action last night. I can't wait to see what racing will be like on a track with a bit of grip. I'll make sure I won't be in any hurry to get home though, cos I reckon there will be a fair few stoppages! Cookie announced that we've got Jonas Davidsson on standby to come in as a replacement for Piotr if the Polish situation doesn't sort itself before our season kicks off proper with the visit of the Wolves next Friday. Mind you, not many people will have heard it as we had colossal problems with our new sound system last night! We tested and tested all day Weds and during the day on Friday and it was perfect! Come the main event and the radio mikes kept shutting off, which made it sound like a throwback to the Wheeltappers and Shunters (showing my age now ). It will all be sorted before Friday though!

Rico was class as usual I note you didn't say first class.......there are different levels of class Seriously though, it's worrying to read your comments about the silencers' effect when riders 'go out wide'........maybe Gollob et all do have a valid point ?

He's always first class Kev - you know that better than most, being his No.1 fan From what I heard from the boys last night, it sounds like the silencers are okay on a nice even surface, but as soon as you hit a rough patch, the bike doesn't have the power to handle it, and so you lose control easily. My personal opinion, based on all I've heard is that they do have potential to be more dangerous than the old ones, as the riders generally feel that they have less control, and in this sport, that can only ever be dangerous - plus there's the increased heat issues! Also, i'm not convinced that they are actually doing that much to dampen the noise. It's very strange, and I can't really find the right words to describe it. When the boys are on the start line on full revs, it is definitely muffled - so much so, that I actually missed the start of Heat 2 because I didn't hear the high revs. When the bikes come past you though, they are as noisy as ever, and in fact, the pitch of them, to me, makes them even noisier. Given that the start line is the opposite side of the track from where I stand, I guess that what I've just said is actually an indication that, from a distance, the sound is more muffled than before, which I guess is what is relevant in those stadia who have complaints from local residents. I'd like to see the stats on it though, because I do hope we're not going through all this for nothing!
