LEE Richardson has confirmed that his season after his over after he crashed out of the play-off Final at Coventry. Richardson was already carrying a groin injury, for which he had received a cortisone injection, but he suffered further damage when he fell in Heat 7 whilst battling with the Bees' Billy Janniro. He said: "I went to hospital on Monday night and had an x-ray and it has been revealed I have a crack in the pelvis as well as ligament damage in the groin. "I had a cortisone injection to get me through the play-offs but I will call it a day now for the season. I only carried on because of Swindon and now I will be glad of the rest and the chance to get it better." Richardson is hoping that he will be able to return to Blunsdon next season for another tilt at the Elite League title, although he realises that the Robins will inevitably have to make team changes. He said: "I think it was one of our best chances to lift it. Hopefully I will be back next year to have another real go at it with Swindon but we all know there are going to have to be changes. "We won't be able to keep the same team because the likes of myself and Tomasz obviously now have higher averages. I suppose the only positive about that is Coventry won't either." There's a bit more of that here: www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/speedway/Our luck with injuries the last few weeks has been unbelievable really. I'm not surprised Lee's season is over. He was already on painkillers as it was.

I'm not the biggest Richardson fan in the world but that sounds very painful and I wish him all the best!

After representing Leszno in the second leg of the Polish Extraleague Play-Off Final at Torun over the weekend, Leigh Adams is due back to skipper the Robins in the concluding leg of the Craven Shield semi-final at Belle Vue on Monday 8 October.
Meanwhile, replacing the injured Lee Richardson will be an Australian compatriot of Adams', namely Jason Lyons, who rode so well to take the runner-up position in the Premier League Riders' Championship at Blunsdon on 30 September.
The Robins will line-up as follows: 1. Leigh Adams (C) 2. Tomasz Chrzanowski 3. Seba Ulamek 4. Jason Lyons (G) 5. Charlie Gjedde 6. Andrew Moore
The action at Kirkmanshulme Lane begins at 7.30 p.m. and the meeting referee is G.E. Flint.

This is good news for speedway as far as I'm concerned: LEIGH Adams admits to being "hopeful" that he can continue in the Grand Prix series in 2008. The experienced Australia has just completed his best-ever season in the competition, finishing second to Nicki Pedersen and ahead of his compatriot Jason Crump. But he has so far refused to confirm that his career at the top level of the sport will continue, with rumours suggesting that he wanted to cut back on some of his commitments. However, Adams has now hinted that he will once again be part of the World Championship chase next year to go for a gold medal. He said: "I've got to be happy with the season I've just had and there is also a sense of relief now that it’s over. It is a long season and as you can probably imagine the GPs in particular are very tiring. "I'm certainly not complaining though, it's just nice to be looking forward to going home to Australia. Being world number 2 sits pretty well with me and it is my consistency that I'm most pleased with. "I made the majority of A Finals I was in a position to qualify for, and that tells me the future holds promise. I haven't committed to next year's series yet, but I'm hopeful that if a few more things fall into place I can take part." From: www.speedwayworld.tv

What needs to fall into place for Leigh, is the utter self belief of Crump and Niki that they can be World Champion, his attitude seems a bit half hearted to me.
