Belle Vue Speedway bosses have reacted with delight at the news their four year campaign for a new stadium has taken a huge step forward.
Manchester City Council have revealed plans for a major sporting venue in Eastlands and Gorton including a new home for the Aces. The plan will be put in front of the City Council Executive on March 16 when the Aces hope to get the green light to build the new stadium that will also stage world events on a regular basis.
Aces chief David Gordon said: “We are thrilled that our vision for the future is so close after all our work. But we must remain patient for a little longer”.
Gordon added: “We have been working very positively with New East Manchester Ltd and Manchester City Council on a proposal to establish a world class Speedway Stadium in Belle Vue as part of proposals for an exciting Sports Village that involves Taekwondo, Basketball and other sports. We have not finalised all the details of this work and are still undertaking extensive due diligence with the support of NEM and MCC.”
The proposals to bring forward an Eastlands Community Sports Plan that will support the Eastlands Regeneration Framework and which highlights the potential development propositions, including Speedway that should be progressed in East Manchester to support the vision for sport that will lie at the heart of the Community Sports Plan.
Gordon said: “We hope that the City Council approves the proposal to bring forward this Eastlands Community Sports Plan and we will continue to work with NEM and MCC to work up our plans so that they can be considered as part of the final detailed plan”.
