BELLE Vue have beaten all-comers to sign local whizkid Jason Garrity, the hottest young British prospect in speedway.
The Droylsden-based 16-year-old, born just two miles from the Gorton track, has rejected a sheaf of lucrative offers to put his dream of being a World champion in the hands of the Aces’ management.
Garrity’s remarkable natural talent and balance has enabled him to defy his slight, but tough, stature and the British title victory earned him a place at National League Buxton where he played a key role in their record-breaking season which brought three major titles to the little High Edge track.
Garrity said: “My ambition is to be Belle Vue’s No 1 rider and World champion. I know it won’t be an easy thing to achieve but I have the belief.
“I know I’m getting better all the time. Riders who were beating me at the start of last season in the National League at Buxton were behind me at the end of it.
“Many of them rode in the Premier League as well so I want to move up a league and be racing there as well next season. I know I need to improve my gating technique but I’m working on it and then I’ll be ready.
“There’s no point in riding all the time against riders you know you can beat. I want to ride against the top men. I don’t care if they beat me because I’ll be learning and the day will come when I start to beat them.
“I’ll also learn a lot from Chris Morton at Belle Vue. He has won World titles and is dedicated to helping my career. That is another very important reason I have signed for the Aces. I thought about all the other offers but Belle is where I want to be." bellevueaces.co/news.aspx

Taken from Speedway 365:
"Belle Vue Aces have captured the signings of British Champion Chris Harris and Rory Schlein from Coventry for the 2011 Elite League Season.
With no Coventry Speedway this year in speedway, Harris found himself on the sidelines with out a team place and even threatened to miss the British season but the Aces’ bosses David Gordon and Chris Morton moved quickly after the lifting of a transfer embargo by the BSPA last Thursday.
On his move to Manchester Harris said to menmedia.co.uk: “I had got fed up with it all to the point of thinking I’d just ride in Europe and give Britain a miss. But I am English and I want to ride in England. I’ve always enjoyed coming to Belle Vue, I like the track and get on well with the management, so this is a great move for me.”
Harris will be joined by Bees asset Rory Schlein in 2011, the Australian was part of the Peterborough team that reached the playoffs last year and will come into the team with a 6.92 average."

Belle Vue Aces have sealed the signing of Swede Ricky Kling. The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons with Eastbourne Eagles, but the Poole Pirates asset is now heading his way to Kirkmanshulme Lane. Poole were keen on trying to fit Kling into their own side, but his average was too high, so Belle Vue have taken advantage. "We approached Poole for permission to talk to Ricky and promoter Matt Ford said they would have used him if they could," Chris Morton, the Aces' operations director said. "I have tracked him throughout his career and he has always impressed me. "It's not easy for a foreign rider to come to race in the UK, especially as a youngster, but Ricky has always made slow but steady progress. "He has built up good Elite League experience for his age with two seasons at Oxford and Lakeside and the last two at Eastbourne. "His average of 4.95 is one I am sure he can continue to improve. He will start in the team proper, rather than at reserve, and it will be a challenge for him to stay there. "But he would prove to be a very strong reserve if that happened to him. We plan to be strong at reserve from the word go because Charlie Gjedde will be riding there after his long injury absence. "Ricky is a rider who can have moments of brilliance but I was pleased to snap him up because he has good knowledge of British tracks already." Last minute changes for the Aces, but refreshing to hear that (at this stage) Tomasz Piszcz is due to ride amid the silencer row. Belle Vue have confirmed that Tomasz Piszcz will take his place in the team for their opening Elite League fixture next week, despite the ongoing issue surrounding Polish riders. As it stands, the Polish Motor Union (PZM) won’t grant permission to any of its riders who want to race in a league that has sanctioned the new type of silencers. That includes teams in Great Britain, Sweden and Denmark where they have already been introduced. It means several Polish riders could be refused from competing in England and other FIM events.
This afternoon the BSPA verified that Tomasz has a permit to ride and will line up as scheduled against King’s Lynn on Monday. Aces Team Manager Jim Lynch explained:
“We have clarified with the BSPA that Tomasz Piszcz has a start permit to ride for Belle Vue from Monday. He’s not included in the ban that the Polish authorities have imposed because it only applies to those that haven’t yet received a start permit. However, due to the delicate situation between the FIM and PZM, we have put Kozza Smith on standby.”
Lynch has also confirmed that Piszcz’s starting average has been re-assessed at 3.49, giving the team an extra 1.4 points. With that in mind, the club has moved to make last minute changes, with Jordan Frampton making way for Newcastle rider Mark Lemon and Sheffield’s Hugh Skidmore introduced as the number eight.
Jim said:
“We wanted to stay loyal to the team we’ve already put on the track, so we strengthened the doubling up role. It means we’ll be in a much better position when riders from the main team are missing.
“We explained the situation to Jordan before we made the decision and his attitude was exemplary. We were superbly impressed with him on press and practice day and I’ve made it clear to him that he will certainly be in our thoughts for the future.”
On Mark Lemon, Jim added:
“We looked at a couple of riders who could fit the bill but I have worked with Mark at Reading and I rate him very highly. Plus he’s started this season in fabulous fashion and we think he’ll do a great job. “
As well as drafting in new riders, Jim has also been weighing up Belle Vue’s first Elite League opponents after watching King’s Lynn against Birmingham last night. Speaking ahead of the season opener, Jim said:
“King’s Lynn look like they’re going to be a formidable team at home. But they were up against a Birmingham side that were off-form so it was hard to judge. I’m confident that we can put on a good show against them on Monday but I also think it’ll be a good meeting at their track on Wednesday.” From www.bellevueaces.co
