Saw this posted from Swiney on BSF:-
Looks like a Swindon Borough Council planning officer will be the latest nomination for flapperjack of the week.

Bastard councillors you cannot trust them, jumped up pieces of shit in my experience. So the good folk of Swindon & elsewhere better get the letters & e-mails flowing again & remind them about the support for Swindon Speedway that the council et al gave them earlier this year. These planner types are wankers of the first order. Wouldn't pay half the shits in washers. fog

What are they going to say if Swindon win the league? More than the football team will ever do

All is not lost......... Plymouth recently gained planning permission despite the recommended refusal.
Let's hope Tel The Orange employs better advisors than he used for his Sittingbourne application a couple of years back though!!
Power to your elbow Swindon fans, everyone is behind you!!!

I've thought Gaming International have been planning a tuck up since day one!
Who knows where this will end, being the eternal pessimist i fear the worst.

Apparently Councillor Tomlinson has posted this on a local forum:
Just been on the radio over this.
1 - The Council has not changed its position that it will only consider any application that safeguards both the short-term and long-term future of speedway in Swindon.
2 - The Council has worked with the develiopers to help advise them on what is an extremely complex application (remember it is also the adjacent land / development)
3 - The Council is bound by planning laws and regulations, so any development must meet those.
If the application is refused on Tuesday, then the developers must look at the reasons why and refine the application.

It seems that it's going to fall on simply being too ambitious of a plan.
At least they have got next season sorted.....but hopefully the councillors can see some sense.

Bastard councillors you cannot trust them, jumped up pieces of shit in my experience. It's nothing to do with the councillors in this case. It's some bureaucrat who's making things difficult, although it seems there's more to this than meets the eye (with respect to lack of provision of amenities for the associated housing development).

Ultimately it comes down to a Council decision, now these decisions can be influenced by 'bureacrats' and the government guidelines planning laws etc, as well as possibly other less savoury means. My thrust of it all is 'not to take your eye off of the ball' so to speak, due to ever changing world(minds) of local government. i.e it's very hard to trust them imo & experience fog

Sadly it is far more irritating and complicated than any of the above thoughtful posts quite indicate. Fans are the lever and our sport the fulcrum.

Not all swindon fans want this to get planning so far mr osbornse has given no reasons why speedway would be shut out if he can't build .
This scum of the earth is now useing speedway fans who he hates to used in the war to make him a pocket full of cash its almost blackmail .
He can't build without speedway so why if he can't build would speedway be shut ? so far he not offer any reason .

PIT CREW TO RALLY STADIUM SUPPORT! As some supporters are probably aware of by now via the local media, it has come to light that the proposed plans for the development of the Abbey Meads site to include a new stadium have been recommended for a refusal at the planning committee meeting, held on 4 September. This in turn has now put the future of Swindon Speedway once again in jeopardy and we now need to all come out in force and show our solidarity to the council that we need the new stadium. A meeting is being held at the Swindon Borough Council offices in Euclid Street on Tuesday 11 September at 6.00 p.m. The Robins’ Pit Crew will be there to rally support and would be very grateful for as many other speedway fans as possible to come along too. You dont need to support the application to write/email and show up on tuesday - anything helps because its the public support for the sport that counts.
