Don't want to start a bun fight, as there is on the BSF, but wondered whether we can have a sensible conversation on the pros and cons of the fallout from the AGM. Personally, am quite happy with the PL end result but the EL, as ever maintains my concern. Do we think that any of the changes being mooted will actually improve the life expectancy of the EL or will they kill it quicker? I have to admit that I don't know. I backed the idea of the 3 year rule and, to an extent, feel that it ought to be completed before being called a dead duck. On the other hand, part of me feels like they are still fiddling while Rome burns. To put it mildly, I'm can't be arsed to read the self-interested, bigotted bullshit that's on the BSF but I am confused as to what 2011 will bring Anyone want to offer a silver lining or hangman's rope without resorting to infantile bigotry? I was interested to read on the Lakeside site that there are plans to increase the numbers in the Elite League initially to 10 members and then 12 over the coming seasons.
Just how they go about doing that isn't documented, but it's heartening to know that is the intention.
Personally, as far as rule changes go, we've seen representatives from two teams walk out of the conference (allegedly) because of proposed changes to the rules. I would like to see the current rules adhered to for a three year period, with any changes decided at an annual conference not being implemented for a three year period.
This would stop anyone voting for a change to directly benefit their club in the forthcoming season and should ensure that any changes are made for the good of the sport.
Just a thought........has anyone got any views on this ?

I've only skimmed the BSF thread but seems to me the majority of folk complaining are from Coventry and Scumboro. On the face of it the BSPA is a democracy and as there are potentially 9 EL promoters and only 2 walked out, I would assume the other 7 were in agreement, therefore they should carry the day. That said, I've long been an advocate of an independent body running the sport which would have avoided most of this. As long as promoters attempt to set the rules and then enforce the rules, self interest will come into play and if it doesn't fans will still think it does.
I've thought for many years that the BSPA couldn't organise a decent piss up in a well stocked brewery.
I'll go back into blissful hiberantion now....being a lapsed fan does have it's compensations ;D

Panthers refuse to comment on walk-out rumours
Peterborough Panthers bosses have refused to be drawn on speculation that they left the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) AGM early.
Co-owners Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney attended the annual meeting that ran from Thursday to yesterday in Bournemouth. Rumours emerging through the internet over the weekend suggested that representatives of two clubs departed on the third day.
The meeting closed without the Elite League constitution being drawn up. A loosely-worded statement from the BSPA confirmed ‘league numbers are not finalised’.
Frost told The Evening Telegraph last night: “I have absolutely no comment at all, but I am led to believe there may be another meeting later this week.”
No rules and regulations for 2011 have been released either so the team building points limit remains unknown. What is known is that Birmingham, a club promoted by former Panthers official Mick Bratley, have stepped up to the top flight from the Premier League with Ipswich moving in the opposite direction.
BSPA chairman Alex Harkess said: “The potential to expand or consolidate the Elite League still remains and will be finalised before the end of the year.”

Coventry Bees speedway future under threat Coventry Bees' place in the 2011 Elite League season is in doubt, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire understands. New regulations relating to rider's averages, put into place at the Annual General Meeting of speedway's governing body, prompted The Bees to walk out. It is thought Coventry had agreed a deal to sign Kenny Larsson from Newcastle and his average would be notably higher under the new rules. The Bees are currently the reigning Elite League champions. The Bees were joined in their walk-out by Peterborough Panthers. It is believed the new regulations would alter the way that riders from the Premier League had their averages altered, when stepping up to the Elite League. At the moment the average is halved but the BSPA now wants the riders to retain 70% of their previous Premier League average. A BSPA source said on Wednesday morning: "The BSPA are likely to issue a statement within the next 24 hours which will confirm that Coventry Bees will not defend their Elite League title next season." news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/9224117.stm

A BSPA source said on Wednesday morning: "The BSPA are likely to issue a statement within the next 24 hours which will confirm that Coventry Bees will not defend their Elite League title next season." If the interview is correct, Kings Lynn will ride in the Elite League next year even if Coventry and Peterborough resolve their differences with the BSPA.

THE immediate future of Peterborough Panthers is clouded in uncertainty.
Widespread rumours that the city club will not race in the Elite League in 2011 are currently sweeping the sport - and Panthers chiefs have not issued a denial.
Panthers co-owners Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney are understood to have walked out of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) annual meeting on Saturday.
The owners of reigning champions Coventry are thought to have done the same with both clubs said to be unhappy at revamped team-building regulations.
It is understood the option for the clubs to return to the table still exists, but well-connected sources in the sport say there is no sign of a climbdown with Panthers and Coventry both thought to be keen to take matters further.
Frost and other senior Panthers figures could not be contacted by The Evening Telegraph yesterday.
Elite League bosses are set to confirm the list of competing teams for next season very soon and as things stand, neither Panthers nor Coventry will be included.
Assuming Panthers and Coventry don’t line up, the Elite League would have only seven clubs - one fewer than the eight required as part of its contract with Sky television.
It is now believed that a current Premier League team are prepared to step up to the top-flight. Rumours suggest it could be King’s Lynn.
Ifthat happened Panthers couldpossibly replace them in the Premier League or even race in the third-tier National League, who holds their own AGM next month.
And even not racing at all is believed to be a possibility.
Panthers are one of the biggest clubs in the country and possess arguably the finest track in Britain.
The club have made terrific progress on and off the track during the Frost/Mahoney reign which began in August 2008 with their takeover from previous owner Colin Horton.
Panthers have raced in every year since being formed in 1970. They last tasted success when lifting the Elite League title in 2006.
