National League team, Plymouth Devils have submitted their application to move up the Premier League in 2011 and although the team finished just sixth in the league, owner Mike Bowden believes that his team are ready to take a leap forward.
Speaking to This Is Plymouth, he said: “We’ve been going for five years and everything’s in place for us to go up a league. It’s cost us a considerable amount of money, running into thousands, to apply for the Premier. But, as I’ve said before, the money is there for us to do that and I believe it’s time for us to move on.”
Bowden added: “It’s been a successful five years, in that we’ve won some national trophies. We’ve also proved we can run a speedway club successfully and we have the support of some really good fans. We have an average crowd of around 900 for a meeting, which is more than some clubs in the top league, the Elite, get. Applying for the Premier is something I felt we had to do, because I didn’t want to look back on it all in another five years and regret not having a go.”
