They really are becoming very adept at issuing press statements which say absolutely nothing at all! Identical statements on the BSPA, Coventry and Peterborough sites : www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.9768

Praying for some good news today..... Frost remains hopeful Panthers will compete this year By Mark Plummer Published on Tue Jan 25 09:07:44 GMT 2011 PANTHERS owner Rick Frost has re-affirmed his desire for the city club to race on this year. Peterborough and reigning champions Coventry vowed to take the British Speedway promoters’ Association (BSPA) to court over what they deemed to be prejudicial, discriminatory and illegal rule changes put in place at the sport’s annual meeting back in November. An EGM earlier this month failed to find a suitable resolution in the eyes of the two clubs but Frost confirmed discussions are taking place between legal teams behind the scenes. And he remains hopeful that Panthers will take to the track for a 42nd successive season. Frost said: “Negotiations are ongoing and will hopefully be concluded satisfactorily so as we are in a position where we can race in 2011. “If that is the case, putting a team together will be no problem.” But Frost remained tight-lipped over whether the club will attend the third-tier National League AGM today. Panthers are understood to still have an application to enter that division on the table. When asked by the Evening Telegraph whether Panthers would be present, he declined to comment. Riding assets of Panthers and Coventry have been blocked from speaking to other clubs during the winter, but that protection ended last week. Former captain Niels Kristian Iversen and ex-number one Kenneth Bjerre have both joined King’s Lynn - the club that entered the Elite League after the exits of Panthers and Coventry. Swales on Pedersen: ‘Best number one in the league’ By Mark Plummer Published on Wednesday 16 March 2011 08:57 Tuesday was the day that Panthers team boss Trevor Swales had dreamed about all winter. His team are back and immediately sent shockwaves around the sport by capturing Danish superstar Nicki Pedersen as their new number one at a hastily-arranged Alwalton unveiling. So hasty in fact that official word of their return hadn’t yet been forthcoming. Swales and the rest of the club’s management team refused to go into any detail regarding the winter-long furore over the futures of Panthers and brothers-in-arms Coventry. Instead Swales chose to look forward and fire a warning shot to the rest of the Elite League. He said: “This has turned out to be a day that a lot of people won’t forget for a lot of years. Not only have we found out we are back in the Elite League - where we feel we belong - but we have secured the services of a three-time world champion. “We have the best number one in the league and I can’t think of any rider I would rather have in my team than Nicki. “Nicki is an out-and-out racer who oozes class. His record speaks for itself and doing a deal with him couldn’t have been easier, “I remember when Nicki signed for Peterborough on the centre green around the time of his 16th birthday so all these years on it will be great to finally see him ride for the club. “I’ve spoken to him in the past about coming to Peterborough. We came close to getting him after Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney took over in 2008, but we couldn’t get the dates to stack up. “It has been worth waiting to see him here though and we are working to complete the rest of the team as quickly as we can. We will be striving to win the league just as in any other year. “It has been a trying winter but we are putting all that behind us. We are not going down that road again, we are not talking about what has or hasn’t been agreed other than to say we are happy with the terms of the agreement. If we weren’t happy, we wouldn’t be back. “It is now time to concentrate on what looks to be a rosy future for the club and our fans.” Swales will be in charge of Panthers team affairs for the seventh successive year. www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport....eague_1_2503281

Panthers are ready to start the season
By Mark Plummer Published on Tuesday 29 March 2011 10:20
Peterborough Panthers are still on course to launch their 2011 season next week.
Director of speedway Peter Oakes revealed Panthers now have seven riders in place who are chomping at the bit to take to the track.
And he remains confident that will happen next Thursday with a season-opening challenge clash against winter allies Coventry Bees. The teams are scheduled to meet again 24 hours later at Brandon.
That’s despite British Speedway Promoters’ Association chairman Alex Harkess claiming that no deal to secure the return of the two clubs has yet been ratified.
Harkess has blasted Panthers for jumping the gun when announcing their return a fortnight ago, but Oakes insists the club had been given permission to go public.
Oakes said: “There is no suggestion that we will have to put things back at all.
“We are expecting an official statement anytime and once that arrives, we will be able to make more announcements ourselves. We have seven riders in place, all with their equipment ready.
“We were told we could go ahead with our press conference two weeks ago at which we unveiled Nicki Pedersen as our new number one. Had we not been given that permission, we wouldn’t have done it.”
Panthers have a ‘Meet the Team’ event planned for Monday and will stage their Press & Practice session the following day ahead of another behind-closed-doors skid on Wednesday before the real business begins on Thursday.
And Panthers are optimistic that they will be able to track at least two Polish riders as planned.
The Polish governing body - the PZM - have threatened to block Polish riders from racing in any countries using new homologated silencers, but the row now looks like it will be resolved in the next few days.
The Federation International de Motocyclisme (FIM) confirmed it will ensure that Polish riders are allowed to participate in other international leagues and championships.
Oakes added: “I understand there is another meeting planned between the FIM and the PZM this weekend, but I have a feeling it may be resolved before then. We are quietly optimistic on that front.”

Panthers rider in horror crash in Poland By Mark Plummer Published on Friday 1 April 2011 11:26 Peterborough Panthers asset Norbert Kosciuch incredibly walked away from this frightening crash without serious injury. The popular reserve, who is in line for a place in the Peterborough line-up again, came to grief in a practice event in Poland on Tuesday. Kosciuch was taken to hospital and kept in overnight after the horror tumble, but appears to have escaped with a gash to the forehead. Kosciuch’s manager Przemek Nasiukiewicz said: “It was horrible but finished not so bad. “There’s nothing wrong inside but he’s got 10 stitches on his forehead. He stayed in hospital overnight because the doctors wanted to make sure everything was fine and he seems quite okay. “There is nothing broken – but Norbi says he will need to have a longer fringe now!” Panthers will take no chances over the fitness of Kosciuch and will be seeking medical advice before tying up a deal with him for the new British campaign. Panthers team boss Trevor Swales said: “We’ve seen pictures of the crash and if he’s escaped with nothing worse than a few stitches then he is a very lucky lad. “It looks a horrific incident and we will need to be sure there are no lasting problems. Fortunately both Norbi and his agent are smashing to deal with and we know if they say he’s going to be okay then we will go ahead and complete all the paperwork.” www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/panthers_rider_in_horror_crash_in_poland_1_2556029#resize-imageClick on link to see picture....
