BELLE Vue speedway legend Peter Collins is recovering in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
Lymm-based Collins, 56, won the World individual title in 1976 and added nine more World Team and Pairs titles with his thrilling style and breathtaking balance.
His wife, Angela, said: “Peter is improving nicely and we are sure he will be fine. We are seeing improvements every day and we are hoping to have him back home soon.
"He is still waiting to undergo some tests, but is eager to get back on track and come back home to his family. The family want to thank everyone for all their messages of support."
