From the BSPA....... SWINDON boss Ronnie Russell has dropped a hint that club asset Lee Richardson - who scored 16 points at Blunsdon for Lakeside last Thursday - could figure in the Robins' plans for 2011. Russell told the Swindon Advertiser: "We are already planning for next season, of course we are. We must finish our fixtures and it’s up to my riders to post their CV’s. "Lee Richardson posted his CV last Thursday. He came for the interview and left his CV and it was an impressive one. I can’t reveal any plans we have for next season but obviously it is up to the riders to impress me in the remaining meetings."

I nearly took that literally about the posting CV's and interviews etc It might be worth while them telling the guy a little earlier whether they want him next year or not, rather than leaving him without a club for the first few weeks

And I hope that Lakeside win this particular tug-of-war. ;D ;D

Swindon Robins have confirmed that Polish ace Grzegorz Zengota has re-signed for the for 2011. Zengota joined Swindon last winter and he enjoyed his first year in England. Now he has agreed to return again in 2011, and will come in on an average of 5.65. He is the fifth confirmed Robin for this season, joining Scott Nicholls, Simon Stead, Maciek Janowski and Justin Sedgman. Co-Promoter Gary Patchett told the club's website: "I can understand the fans frustration at the lack of news coming out of the club but we are in a very unique situation as far as the sport is concerned with the situation surrounding Coventry and Peterborough. "That has meant that there has been very little business that we have been able to complete while we wait for some clarification on that matter. "That said there was never any doubt that Zengi was going to return this year, having had the benefit of a full season's experience here. He will form a very exciting partnership with Magic, if Ron decides to pair them up." On Sedgman's return, Patchett added: "I'm amazed that more interest wasn't shown in Justin from the Premier League. His average is only going one way and he still has a great deal of improvement and development left in him. "He's shown, given the opportunity, that he can cut it in the Elite League and he certainly won't be overawed." (From www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,14471_6718253,00.html)

Really gutted for him, and gutted we won't be seeing him ride - he was one person in particular I was looking forward to seeing ride this season. Wishing him a speedy recovery Russell's Replacement Search THURSDAY, 10 MARCH 2011 10:02 After finding out that Grzegorz Zengota will miss the start of the season for Swindon, boss Ronnie Russell has begun his search for a replacement. Zengota suffered a broke leg yesterday while training in Poland and has been ruled out for months. With just less than a month before the start of the Elite League season for the Robins and a week before the clubs press day, Russell is hoping to bring in his replacement for the forthcoming challenge matches on the 24th & 25th March against Lakeside. Poole owner Matt Ford revealed that he had given permission for Swindon to talk to Pirates asset Jason Doyle today (10th) about a possible move to Blunsdon. Quoted on thisiswiltshire.co.uk, Russell said: “I was superbly confident this year and I can’t let what’s happened, as tragic as it is, be the end of the season before it’s even started,” “I’ve put my scouting hat on and I’ve put out a network of calls all over Europe because I can’t afford to leave any stone unturned. We had a very difficult season last year and we’ve got to hit the road running this time." www.speedway365.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1931:russells-replacement-search&catid=299:swindon-robins&Itemid=532

Swindon's Grzegorz Zengota has had successful four hour surgery on his broken broken femur yesterday. Zengota crashed while training in his native Poland earlier in the week and is now set to miss the start of the season with Robins. On his website he said: "I fell very well. After the talking with the doctors after the surgery, I am full of optimism" Swindon's team manager Ronnie Russell has confirmed that he will look for a replacement for 'Zengi' with a view to having a deal completed before the club's press & practice day. www.speedway365.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1934:zengota-surgery-successful&catid=299:swindon-robins&Itemid=532

Not a good start to an already troubled season. Thursday's meeting between Swindon and Lakeside is off owing to the 'silencer situation', and the possible unavailability of Polish riders. www.swindonrobins.co/news.php?extend.1365

And again.....
SWINDON v LAKESIDE IS OFF
SWINDON are assessing their options for their Elite League opener at Belle Vue next Monday after again being forced to postpone a home fixture.
The Robins’ challenge match clash with Lakeside, scheduled for Thursday, is off for the second week in succession due to the ongoing problems surrounding Polish riders and the new silencers.
Co-promoter Gary Patchett said: “Whilst the situation is ongoing and could change on a daily basis we feel it is only fair to our fans to make this decision. We hope and expect the situation to be resolved but we cannot predict any timescale for that to happen.
"We will go into our league clash at Belle Vue next Monday hopefully with the riders available, if not we will be looking at short term signings and/or making full use of the facilities available to cover their absence.”

Robins Expect Polish Duo To Ride MONDAY, 04 APRIL 2011 08:27 Swindon's team manager Ronnie Russell is confident Maciej Janowski and Tomasz Chrzanowski will race in the Robins first meeting of the season against Belle Vue on Monday night.
The Robins had been hit with the news that his riders from Poland would not be able to take to the track because of a difference of opinion between the PZM (Polish Motor Union) and the FIM over the introduction of the new type of silencer. The PZM had initially banned their riders from riding in the UK without their permission but over the weekend their has been talks between both parities and Russell is confident that his riders will be allowed to ride.
Quoted by thisiswiltshire.co.uk, Russell said: “We have yet to get it in written confirmation, but we are planning on having them back for Monday, arrangements have been made to pick them up from the airport and their flights have been booked.
“It is time for us to stop talking and starting doing the business on the track. This has been the most traumatic time I’ve experienced in speedway, and I’ve only been in the sport since 1963. It has been a complete nightmare, it has been terrible.
“I haven’t been able to see the team ride together and make decisions on who should ride where, but now I finally get the chance to do that.”
