PETERBOROUGH will be looking for their second home win in four days when they host Eastbourne on Bank Holiday Monday (7.30pm).

The Panthers eventually overcome Swindon 51-42 on Friday evening at the East of England Showground, and a similar outcome against the Eagles will further increase their end-of-season play-off aspirations.

Peterborough welcome back Kenneth Bjerre after he missed Friday’s clash against the Robins, and Eastbourne hope to see the return of Matej Zagar who has recently been sidelined with injury.

Panthers team manager Trevor Swales is once again targeting maximum points from the Showground clash. He said: “We had a good win over Swindon on Friday and picked up all three league points.

“That puts us another step closer to the play-offs and the same against Eastbourne tomorrow night has got to be our next target.

“After a bit of a break in action we’re now in a busy spell of race meetings, both home and away. It’s important that we keep our focus and not let anything slip at this stage.

“It’s a meeting we’re capable of winning, but we mustn’t be complacent and won’t be taking anything for granted.”

PANTHERS COUNT THE COST

PETERBOROUGH manager Wayne Swales pulled no punches after the play-off chasing Panthers crashed to a shock home defeat against Eastbourne.

The Eagles, with Matej Zagar absent but with Joonas Kylmakorpi and Simon Gustafsson in inspired form, were 47-43 winners, leaving the Panthers facing a huge clash with fast-finishing Coventry at the Showground on Friday.

Swales said: "It was an appalling meeting for us. Words fail me really, we were so poor. We didn’t ride as a team tonight, and we simply weren't good enough from 1-7.

"I’m hoping that this was the kick up the backside that we need, but it could prove very costly. I’m not saying that the wheels have fallen off, but they’ve certainly gone a bit loose."

Judging by the way none of them could buy a start I would say all 7 had bike problems.

As for heat 15 some riders handle pressure better than others but experience generally wins through on most occasions,
