PETERBOROUGH will finally get back on track tonight – after the East of England Showground circuit was given the thumbs up.
Track curator Dean Wyers and team boss Trevor Swales inspected the track shortly before noon and are totally confident that tonight’s meeting against Swindon will go ahead as planned.
With a dry forecast for this afternoon major work has been carried out to ensure the Panthers can race in front of their own fans for the first time in five weeks.
Swindon are the visitors in a crunch clash that will have a major bearing on the outcome of the race to make the play-offs.
Peterborough defend an unbeaten home record and know another Alwalton win will see them close in on a guaranteed top four spot.
Swales said: “Everything is okay. Any excess water has been cleared off and there’s a drying wind.
“It will be good to get back into action – we’ve not had a home team meeting since July 22 when we beat champions Wolverhampton.”

PETERBOROUGH will be hoping to finally get some track time when they host Swindon at the East of England Showground on Friday evening (7.30pm).
The Readypower Panthers have been left frustrated by a period of inactivity after suffering two rain-offs in the past few days. Monday’s home match against Coventry and Thursday’s trip to Ipswich have both fallen victim to the weather this week.
The Robins arrive at the Showground eager for points after a bad run of results has seen them slip towards the foot of the Elite League table, but Panthers team boss Trevor Swales has targeted the clash against the Wiltshire side as a ‘must-win’ match for his team.
Swales said: “The play-offs will soon be with us and we have to make sure we qualify for them. We are looking okay at the moment, but we must ensure there are no slip-ups in our remaining home meetings.
“If we take maximum league points from our home matches then we are guaranteed a play-off place and that’s what we will be looking to do – starting against Swindon on Friday.
“This is a meeting we simply have to win.”
Team news sees Peterborough forced into making one change from their regular 1-7 with Kenneth Bjerre away in Croatia preparing for Saturday’s Grand Prix. Belle Vue’s Swedish ace Peter Karlsson has been booked as a guest in place of the Dane.
With Thomas H Jonasson banned for 28-days Swindon have swooped to sign Maciej Janowski and the Pole will make his British debut against the Panthers. Talented teenager Justin Sedgmen gets another chance to impress at reserve.
PETERBOROUGH: Peter Karlsson, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Rory Schlein, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Troy Batchelor, Mathieu Tresarrieu, Norbert Kosciuch
SWINDON: Leigh Adams, Mads Korneliussen, Grzegorz Zengota, Maciej Janowski, Simon Stead, Justin Sedgmen, Morten Risager
