ELITE League giants Poole could clash with their Polish counterparts Leszno at the start of next season. Pirates promoter Matt Ford has been in talks with the reigning Extraleague champions about opening up the regular season at Wimborne Road on March 12 - three days after the club celebrates its Diamond Jubilee meeting. And if Leszno are able to accept, it could mean a return to Dorset for Pirates asset Krzysztof Kasprzak as well as former Poole riders Leigh Adams and Troy Batchelor, who are both now with Swindon. Ford said: "They are celebrating their 80th anniversary as a club and we are celebrating our 60th anniversary, so it would be a great occasion if we could get them over here to ride. "We would then race them in a return at Leszno later in the season." Poole agreed deals for 2008 with Karol Zabik and Chris Holder at the end of last season, and have since added skipper Bjarne Pedersen and Adam Skornicki to their team sheet. From www.speedwayworld.tvWell, a lot of us thought it would be interesting, and if this happens I can't wait.

Very interesting . It will tell us how the new all singing, all dancing watered - down Elite league measures up in comparison with the other major leagues . My suspicion is that it will be similar to a top PL against a mid- table EL side . i.e. close run thing at home followed by a humping in the away meeting .

This very much depends on the team that Leszow send to Dorset - there was a similar meeting billed at Gorican this year, but Leszno sent a much weaker team than they could have.
I do like the idea of foreign teams starting the fixtures over here though - in the Canterbury days we hosted Red Star Prague and Olching to name two from memory, and they were always interesting and entertaining meetings - let's hope Stanley is planning a similar thing!

I know we had a similar thing at Brokstedt a few years back.Advertised quite cleverly that "Luxo Stars the team that Hans Andersen,Andreas Jonsson,.............ride for"Can't remember the exact names. But they listed a list of top stars, but never actually said who would be lining up for them.Just gave the impression it would be that sort of line-up.Then the only rider who was a Luxo stars rider that turned up was Ricky Kling!

Says on the Poole forum that Leszno can't fit this into their schedule. Oh well. Maybe another club will be able to do something similar in the future.
