Well, the Poolesters at the BSF have gone into an orgasmic frenzy after Matt Ford announced that next season will kick off with a 60th anniversary special, with sixteen riders chasing a £60,000 winner-takes-all prize. Even six-times-world-champion Tony Rickardsson has been caught up in the general acclaim: www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/topsport/display.var.1864076.0.ricko_approval_for_60k_meeting.php"Yet again, Matt Ford and Poole speedway have made the rest of the sport sit up," says the venerable Rickardsson. What? Didn't TR notice that this isn't an entirely orginal idea and that Poole have just nicked it from BSI? Maybe he hasn't been taking much notice of the GPs since retiring, so didn't know that there was $100,000 up for grabs in Gelsenkirchen. Why all the fuss? Sorry Matt, but rather like the wheel, it's already been invented.

He needs to hire Pearson as his press officer - he's good at stating the bleeding obvious as well!

I doubt if 'Tricky's' words are actually his own anyway - one of the Poole spinmeisters has no doubt "quoted" him.

Looks like the only place in the UK to be if you want to see Emil Sajfutdinov riding though. To go against the grain, I think it's a great line-up so far.

I also thought those words were put in TRicks mouth. But have to admit i think it is a praiseworthy attempt by the Poole promotion. We(or those of us old enough to remember them)always ask where are the old top open meetings like the Internationale.I think it is a great idea.Trouble is Shovlar inadvertently mentioned a big problem with such a meeting. He said he wanted a seat in the grandstand otherwise he would have to pay 25 quid to see the backs of people heads! Now this isn't just a Poole problem it is a problem with British speedway stadiums per se.You do a good promotional job and attract lots of fans. But how many feel ripped of because they have spent a good bit of money and got a crappy view?Poxy time of year for it as well, but i can understand the need as it would be hard to organise and get all the top riders later on
