Tonight's meeting should be an absolute demolition for the Aces, and I'm sure they won't mind me saying so. Rather humorously the headline on the Pirates' website is "Pirates hoping Lindback won't be grand spoiler." I'm sure Jason and Bjarne will just about be able to cope with him.
Perhaps even more strange is the news on the Aces website that Antonio is "in the frame to become Belle Vue's number one rider for 2008." Must be a bit of a worry for Belle Vue fans. More to the point, I wonder what his average for next year will be. We're not talking number one figures here, surely?
Anyway, on to tonight. Teams (to be confirmed) are:
Poole: Bjarne Pedersen Troy Batchelor Jason Crump Edward Kennett Craig Boyce Jason Doyle Steve Boxall
Belle Vue: Antonio Lindback James Wright Joe Screen Kevin Doolan Simon Stead Billy Forsberg Adam Skornicki

I really don't understand why Mort is even considering Antonio for next season. If he gets a new average, which will be around 4.5, then great, we'll have him at reserve. If not then no thank you.
Joe Screen stated that the problem in attracting a heat leader is most of them don't want to ride Britain on a Monday. They ride in Poland on a Sunday and Sweden on a Tuesday. Belle Vue can solve this quite easily by switching their race night to a Wednesday.....and they can do it because they are riding Reading at home a week today.
Poole will batter us tonight.........no doubt of that.

I think one of the reasons Hancock isn't around in the UK at the moment is Readings race night now being preferred as a Monday.
Rumour has it the main reason Reading changed their race night this season to Friday was to accomodate Hancock.
Probably is a few more top line riders who aren't keen on Monday meetings in the UK too. When you look at their schedule many will have GP Practice Friday, GP Saturday, Poland Sunday, Sweden Tuesday. Adding a UK meeting in on a Monday would make the travelling horendous. But then these riders aren't paid peanuts for their efforts either.
Comment from Wellie recently is that Reading may be looking to change their race night to a Wednesday next year.

Aces definitely heading for the Premier League, I take it. I dare say Lindback would be a decent enough No 1 in the Premier League.

I wouldn't complain if BV dropped down to the Premier League. more local derbies, wouldn't see the same teams all the time at Kirky Lane. It might even give the Grand Old Lady a bit of pride. After last night's horror show at Poole Lindback should line up in Belle Vue's next match at reserve.
